Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities. Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY: In charge of fixing and repairing machinery and devices inside Poultry Houses as well as production machinery. Responsible for communicating with pullet supervisor about projects or systems to fix and to work on together. Also available to work at multiple locations. Schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 5:30 am - 2:30 pm with a weekend rotation. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Follow Preventative Maintenance Program. Responsible for maintaining fans, baffle systems and cool cell systems. Responsible for egg collection system, including but not limited to, elevator chain adjustment, drive chain adjustment, rod conveyors and air cylinders for egg savers. (Only at Layer Houses) Responsible for gear box maintenance and cross conveyor belts. Responsible for maintaining manure system in belt houses including, but not limited to, replacement and adjustment of belts, tracking of belts, repair and welding of belts, repair and adjustment of drive rollers, greasing of idler rollers and repair adjustment of cross conveyors and incline belts. Responsible for vulcanizing of cross conveyor belts. (Only at Layer Houses) May have to assist in the pulling of pits and belts. Responsible for maintaining an efficient, clean and organized work area. Responsible for monitoring and inventory usage of parts. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Required to go to multiple locations. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: Licenses, certificates, and registrations required: Vehicle Operators license OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Specific skills and abilities required that are not included in other sections: Must have knowledge of welding and cutting torch. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions. Have good mechanical knowledge. Must be flexible and have some computer knowledge. Ability to work in various positions, standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, etc. Ability to work outside during the winter for long periods of time. Ability to safely lift 80 lbs. occasionally.
