Maintenance Tech/Grounds Worker - Facilities - Full Time
This position will cover both evenings and overnight shift. Position Summary: Performs general maintenance and repairs on hospital physical plant and equipment. Maintains and cares for hospital grounds. Performs snow removal, mowing, mulching, and weeding as needed. All of these duties will be completed in a safe and timely manner. Education, License & Cert: High school diploma required. Driver’s License Experience: 1. Must have six months experience operating commercial or industrial tractors, fork trucks, power driven moving equipment, snow plows and other motorized equipment. Experience can be combined, but must have some experience with all or most of the above equipment. 2. Must have some experience in moving heavy equipment using chain falls, come‐alongs. Must also be able to set scaffolding. 3. Must have a mechanical aptitude. 4. Must be able to read, comprehend, and transmit complicated, detailed instructions in writing and orally for effective interaction with administrative, medical, and supervisory staff, patients, architects, contractors, and vendors. Essential Functions: 1. Performs inspections and repairs of hospital equipment, buildings, and grounds, including offsite properties. 2. Performs routine maintenance such as mowing and raking lawns, weeding gardens, and trimming shrubbery. 3. Checks for evidence of insects, fungus and other pest damage in all planted material including flowers, shrubs, and trees. Treating will be determined and administered scheduled to correct any problems. 4. Responsible for the removal of snow and may be assigned the duty to coordinate winter maintenance of various properties according to departmental policy. 5. Rebuilds, repairs and conducts preventive maintenance on all power equipment (small gasoline engines) which also includes keeping an inventory supply of repair parts. 6. Assists in the relocation of various departments and/or materials as requested. 7. Removes trash on grounds and maintains cleanliness of grounds and parking lots. 8. Maintains off‐site storage/warehousing facilities in a neat, orderly and organized manner. 9. Loads and unloads scrap metals to recycling facility. 10. Demonstrates cost effectiveness by proper use and care of equipment; appropriate and prudent use of supplies; accurately recording labor and supply charges and appropriately utilizing available resources. 11. Attends mandatory in‐services as required. Other Duties: 1. Maintains shops, mechanical spaces, patient areas, etc. in a clean safe manner. 2. Responds to emergencies in the facility, makes emergency repairs as needed and is part of weekend/holiday rotation to provide 24/7 coverage of the Power Plant and Hospital. 3. Serves as a member of the fire response team. 4.
