Maintenance Tech - HVAC

Position Summary The HVAC Maintenance Technician is responsible and accountable for actions, which include, but are not limited to: The HVAC distribution systems of the facilities, including hospital energy management, all roof top A/C units, chillers, boilers, and air handling units. Minimum Qualifications Education High school degree or equivalent required. Credentials Must possess and maintain valid driver's license. Refrigeration Service Engineers Society card or other EPA approved certificate required with a minimum of a Type I or Type II. Completion of CPI training required. BLS required Physical Demands Stand and/or walk constantly. Lift and/or carry 50 pounds frequently. Push and/or pull 30 pounds frequently. Climb 15-foot ladder and/or several flights of stairs frequently. Bend, reach, stoop, kneel and crawl constantly. Manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination within normal limits. Able to drive an automobile frequently. Essential Functions Demonstrates competencies established by Department Director. Responsible for completing orientation, training and development required of staff. Demonstrates commitment to continual learning, growth, and development. Actively participates in Hospital Committees and Meetings as requested. Understands regulations and licensure applicable to own area(s) of responsibility. Follows hospital rules, policies, and procedures as well as applicable laws and standards including those that are established for safe patient care and prompt reporting of patient safety issues and errors. Performs duties as directed in the event of a disaster. Demonstrates safe and competent use of equipment. Demonstrates proper use of software applications to carry out duties. Performs preventative maintenance inspections and safety checks on all HVAC system, including but not limited to high pressure refrigerant units, hospital refrigeration equipment, ice machines and water coolers to ensure the comfort and safe operation of hospital equipment and customer comfort. Installs all HVAC related equipment on in-house construction and maintenance projects according to applicable codes. Ensures proper air exchanges are net including the acquisition of all permits required. Purchases refrigerants for hospital under universal refrigerant license.
