Maintenance Tech UPM
Description UPM Maintenance Tech will repair and maintain mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as metal fabricating machine tools, material handling system, and automated lubrication system by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + #1 Priority—Address all safety concerns + Full time member on the Safety Committee. + Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions. + Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area. + Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems. + Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system. + Realigns and adjusts components such as spindles and clutches. + Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on the machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and installs new pipe. + Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair. + Repairs broken parts. + Sets up and operates metalworking tools such as lathe, drill press, or grinder, to make or repair parts. + Purchase parts through the Purchasing Dept and with approval of the Plant Manager, has use of the company credit card for approved company purchases. + Assists Mechanical Engineer to modify sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism. + Responsible for installation of equipment; new, rebuilt, upgrades, and part changes. + Does maintenance repairs. + Keeps track of essential paperwork for the Quality Department. + Reviews weekly maintenance form + Logs daily work activity + Calls on outside services for routine and repair equipment maintenance, including but not limited to: scales, cranes, forklifts, slitters, shear, CTL, Edgers, electrical work, and machine shop work. + Assists outside during inclement weather conditions, ie. clearing walkways, ice/snow removal. + Assists on the shop floor during a staffing shortage. + Develops and maintains a Preventive Maintenance Program. + Responsible for implementing established maintenance procedures and record retention of documented maintenance activities as required by the UPM quality management system. + Responsible for following all procedures pertaining to the work area, this includes the work instructions manual. + Responsible for the documentation of and the proper training of employees in your area, including safety and work-related training. + Responsible for following all safety policies. + Responsible for monitoring supply levels in your area. Please advise the Plant Manager to place supply orders. + Responsible for maintaining good Housekeeping. Work area needs to be cleaned at the end of each shift. + Responsible for turning off all equipment, radios and fans at the end of the shift. + Responsible for following all lockout / tagout procedures when working on machines, etc. + Other duties as assigned.
