POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Grounds and Buildings representative for the Range Maintenance team located 9 miles from Range Operations (6090 West Range Road, Pineville) at 140 Brushy Road, Pineville. Responsible for facility security comprising of 17 fixed strictures encompassing 10 Acres. Responsible for inspecting, maintaining and reporting facilities requiring work orders. Coordinates with contractors and Facility Engineers for access to structures requiring repairs or sites for construction. Designated as the facilities key and lock manager for key control of all secured structures and 32 pieces of equipment maintained at the maintenance compound. Coordinates and maintains day-to-day ITAM training area maintenance activities. Responsible weekly and hazardous weather inspections of all structures, maneuver trails, bivouac sites, landing zones, and training areas throughout the 12,500-acre range training complex. Monitors the Safety Program/Training for all range maintenance employees to include driver/operator qualifications, new employee orientation, building inspections, surface danger zone updates and environmental requirements. Provides input for long-range plans of maintenance to ensure range and training facilities are available in a timely manner to requesting units. Provide customer service to units/organizations inquiring about resource availability at battalion staging areas, bivouac sites, dig sites, and maneuver trails. Executes work assignments and monitors assigned personnel as required. Functions as the Range Maintenance RFMSS representative to monitor and ensure each training area is ready for utilization. Works with Wildlife and Fisheries with regards to removing feral hogs from training areas as required. Possess a working knowledge of computer and networking Systems and the ability to process information. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of all field training activities to include safe operation of grounds keeping equipment, heavy equipment and facility/structure maintenance practices. Must track equipment maintenance, fuel consumption and usage to ensure adequate supply. Safely train assigned personnel on daily activities. Must be available to report for duty for state and federal emergencies. Assists the Range Manager and the Range Superintendent in monitoring the funding execution plan with ITAM and RTLP budgets for training area and range maintenance. Report and respond to UXO, environmental hazards, and installation safety violations. Assists State forestry personnel with land maintenance, timber acquisition and prescribed burns as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of all range operations and policies. Must have a combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates proficiency in the operation of light and heavy equipment. Must possess military, or civilian equivalent, light and heavy equipment operator licenses or certificates. Must have knowledge of all applicable safety laws and regulations. Must maintain a valid driver’s Louisiana license and attend State Employee Driver Training Class. Must have the ability to lift 25 pounds unassisted, including above the shoulder. Must be comfortable working near firearms and on firing ranges.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Must have a valid Driver's License, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate.
+ Must be available to report to duty during emergency or disaster situations for extended hours over an extended period of time. Other periodic travel may be required.
+ Must meet physical requirements perform functions of the position.
+ Must attend/complete all Louisiana Military Department (LMD) annual training and other training required for the position.
+ Must adhere to the Code of Ethics and foster a Sexual Harassment-Free Environment.
