MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understands and Adheres to all Silgan Safety Policies including the Corporate 21 Point Safety Standards, Any Addendum, Silgan Plastics No Tolerance Policy, Reading and understanding all “Safety Rules” items as outlined in the Employee Handbook.Promotes safety and working safely throughout the facility to prevent injury to self and co-workers, addressing unsafe conditions and behaviors, inspect work area dailyWearing all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and GMP required gearPerforming work safely and in accordance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and housekeeping standardsMust wear PPE to avoid cuts and or burns when entering the machineMust be aware of surroundings at all timesTrouble shoot equipmentMust be able to work with and in industrial electrical panels safelyPerform PM’s without supervisionCommunicate with the Maintenance Lead, Maintenance Manager and Plant ManagerBe proficient with all measuring power tools as well as hand toolsBe able to read and understand electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, hard copy PLC programs, I/O programsPossess some basic skills with welding, milling machine and lathePossess the skills to electrically and mechanically trouble shoot equipmentPossess the skills to understand and follow directions from his or her supervisorAbility to learn at a fast pace and become self-sufficient in a short amount of time.Knowing the location of SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and how to utilize properlyKnowing not to operate any equipment or perform any work without the proper training and authorization to complete the task safelyALWAYS follow proper (LOTO) Lockout/Tag Out proceduresNEVER remove or bypass machine guards and NEVER while the machine is in operationBeing cautious and aware of lift trucks and moving equipmentReporting all injuries or accidents to your Supervisor immediatelyFully understanding and supportive of the Safety START Card program and knowledge in how to complete a START card (S Safety, T Target, A All Personnel and R Relies on T Teamwork)Understand and follow plant housekeeping guidelinesCompliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation practicesAbility to work well with others safelyAlways asking for help before completing a task or job duty that is unsafe or you are unsure of the proper way to completePerforms other duties as assignedReading and understanding specific information pertaining to your job duties and classification.
