Job Description 

This position is part of the Maintenance team.

Pay Rate: $35.59 - 41.36 (DOE)

The primary responsibility of a mechanic is to evaluate, repair, and replace materials, products, and components for conformance to specifications by performing the duties listed below.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Performs all work in safe, efficient manner and follows all safety procedures.Participates in continuing training process.Maintains work area in neat and orderly condition.Detects, reports and repairs faulty operation, defective material and equipment and other unusual conditions to teammates and appropriate personnel.Collaborates with appropriate personnel to transmit and exchange information pertinent to work related activities.Responsible for operation of machines and equipment in compliance with Standard Operating Procedure.Responsible for communicating quality and machine problems to supervisor, team members and maintenance.Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment resulting in operational downtime ensuring the essential care, maintenance and operation of the equipment. Repairs requiring > 60 minutes and/or external resources must be reported to your supervisor (or designee).Conducts Preventative Maintenance procedures that may be performed on facility equipment to ensure the essential care, maintenance and operation of equipment.Records essential data onto Preventative Maintenance work orders and Down Day work orders to ensure proper collection of data for maintenance and operation staff.Verify component information, specifications and location before installation to ensure that appropriate parts are installed in exact specification as replaced parts.Reads instructions, prints, manuals, and written procedural instructions.Safely and professionally utilize; hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, electrical instrumentation, and forklift.Works on pipe systems, which would involve repairing, modifying and installing systems.Perform all phases of welding including MIG, TIG and Rod.Use cutting torch and bronze with a torch.Perform millwright work such as aligning a pump and motor with dial indicator, install sheaves, belts, align equipment, check installation for square and belt tension.Remove and install bearings and be able to perform all maintenance work required on bearings.Works with applicable predictive technologies to improve operations.Works in conjunction with Operations to ensure that all equipment has been tested and is working in a safe manner and with satisfying results.Maintains tools and test equipment to maintain plant electrical systems.Assists with maintaining accurate records to include but not limited to: Maximo, storeroom, calibration, and drawings.Assists supervision in the design of new equipment as well as replacement equipment to enhance the performance of plant electrical systems.Complete Preventative Maintenance and Down Day work orders with precision, ensuring that all components are verified for proper operation prior to startup.Works in conjunction with Operations to ensure that all equipment has been tested and is working in a safe manner and with satisfying results.Works scheduled shifts and overtime as assigned.Completes Daily Paperwork to be turned in at the end of each shift, properly documenting all observed details (includes maintaining electrical log).Performs other duties as assigned.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Under This Roof, We Require

High School diploma or equivalent (advanced degree preferred)3 or more years of demonstrated experience in an Industrial Maintenance PositionCertificate or higher degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field coupled with 1 or more years of Maintenance experience in an Industrial setting5 or more years of experience in an Operator role at GAF AND actively pursuing Certificate or higher degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field
