Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assists with special event coverage as needed.Responds to maintenance issues during events.Makes minor repairs to electrical and plumbing equipment.Follows all facility maintenance policies, procedures, and programs.Ability to work irregular hours that may vary due to functions and events and may include day, evening, weekends, and holidays.  May occasionally have to enter areas where fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals are present.

Hours of Work

Hours vary based on event coverage needs. Generally, will be 4 to 6 hour shifts to cover event maintenance needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D required.3 to 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities

Demonstrate a firm general knowledge of electrical, plumbing and general maintenance practices.Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings and equipment manuals.Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.Work independently with limited supervision, exercising judgment and initiative.Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.

Computer Skills

General computer skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Tradesman license in one or more building trades preferred, but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

The employee is required to walk/stand extensively, kneel, climb to high walkways, balance, and maneuver to all areas of the facility.The employee must frequently move and/or lift 30 – 50 lbs. (some heavier lifts are team lifts).May have some exposure to adverse conditions (inside and outside of the building)Must be able to hear and speak to use a two-way radio.
