Position: Maintenance Technician

Reporting directly to the Plant Engineer, as a Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for performing maintenance tasks, specifically proactive tasks necessary to provide high quality, efficient, timely shipment of Sonoco products.  Safety, quality, productivity, and strong work ethic are important to the Sonoco culture. 

What you’ll be doing:

Assisting in the installation of machinery and equipmentFault finding, diagnosis and repair of a range of equipment, including PLCPerforming preventative maintenance on existing and new equipment.Analysis and resolution of electrical and mechanical faults and repairsTimely response to equipment breakdowns and completion of equipment repairsCarrying out planned preventative maintenance on a range of winders, conveyors and robots in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and Industry/Company practicesAccurately recording and communicating maintenance informationEffective involvement in continuous improvement activities to achieve resultsAbility to provide and co-ordinate engineering project supportTaking an active involvement in operational improvements, both systems and plantActively support the Company’s goal to ‘create a zero-injury environment’ and adhere to health and safety requirementsEncouraging all site employees to report close calls/near missesParticipating in Company safety improvement activities
