Responsible for performing root-cause analysis diagnoses, as well as repairing and implementing permanent solutions to equipment failures. Duties also include performing changeovers, troubleshooting, equipment repairs, continuous improvement and preventive maintenance on packaging and filling machinery and equipment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

 

Troubleshoot all mechanical and pneumatic equipment problems. Perform root-cause analysis to diagnose, repair and implement permanent solutions to equipment failures. Perform and direct set-up and adjustments of equipment to ensure conformance to specifications. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement that reduces operating costs. Cleans and lubricates machinery and equipment following preventive maintenance schedules. Utilizes troubleshooting skills and techniques on packaging equipment to detect malfunctions. Disassembles, diagnoses, and rebuilds equipment components, valves, and pumps during routine maintenance. Discusses machine operation variations with supervisors to diagnose problems and repairs of machine. Develop and implement continuous improvement changes. Develop improved changeover systems and champion improvements. Understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times.  Must stay focused on maintaining a safe work environment. Demonstrate high levels of good housekeeping practices to promote a safe work environment. Comply with all Company policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience Profile

 

Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Required Skills

 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to use basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Able to lift up to 50 pounds up to 40 inches from the floor. Able to function with a high degree of manual dexterity to assemble or repair precision equipment. Able to read and operate digital and dial scales. Able to stoop, bend, and climb. Able to operate material handling equipment including forklifts. Able to push/pull carts that may have loads exceeding 200 pounds.
