Maintenance Technician

STATUS: Part-Time - 20 hours per week

RATE OF PAY: $17.00 per hour

The Kroc Center is looking for a Maintenance Technician to assist with daily facility upkeep, including monitoring pools, gymnasium, HVAC, lighting, and outdoor areas. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, completing plumbing and electrical repairs, and maintaining vehicles. This role supports event setups, ensures safety, and helps keep the facilities welcoming and in good repair.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in facilities maintenance, including HVAC systems and VAV fan units. Familiarity with chilled water AC systems preferred. Preferred 1 year of experience in electrical systems (120v-277v), three-phase motors, and wiring. Ability to read blueprints and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures. Proficiency in lighting system maintenance, including bulb and ballast replacements. Have working knowledge of pool chemistry and upkeep, swimming pool filtration systems. Have working knowledge of sewer, plumbing, water, condensers, dehumidifiers, and kitchen equipment is preferred. Landscape knowledge preferred. Irrigation controls, valve replacements and equipment upkeep. Skilled in patching and painting walls; stucco experience is a plus. Service-oriented team player with excellent organizational and communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Must meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department as well as The Salvation Army. Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demand of the RJKCCC job site. Maintain a non-judgmental attitude while working with customers, clients, and/or members of staff. Must be at least 18 years old. Must possess a valid state driver’s license with clean motor vehicle record. Must be able to pass a background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Day-to-day operations of the physical plant of the RJKCCC. Daily monitor of all building facilities including swimming pools, outdoor athletic facilities, gymnasium, Chapel, parking lots, and landscaped areas. Daily monitor all electrical, security, communication, and ventilation systems for the RJKCCC buildings. Monitor KW demand and maintain HVAC and lighting systems utilizing EMS. Identify and implement any needed repairs or special projects to plumbing, electrical, windows, or structures. Execute year-round preventative maintenance plan and upkeep of pool. Work with the Aquatics Manager to maintain pool filtration systems and health code matters related to operation of the pools. Repair, patch, and paint walls as needed. Submit/complete work orders as necessary. Work with utility providers and contractors to manage and repair all aspects of the physical plant. Assist with fire alarm system, chemical spills, and/or hazardous materials management. Purchase equipment and supplies as authorized by the Facilities Director. Establish daily operational routines which include trash pickup, grounds upkeep, and ongoing repairs. Assist in event setups as needed.. Monitor property for any signs of graffiti or vandalism damage to the RJKCCC buildings, including bus stops, fences, and light poles. Report vandalism immediately after recording the damage. Report incidents which will include photographs and a written account to the Facilities Director. Maintain timely and accurate record keeping including the areas of repair logs, accounting of expenditures, and other reporting as required. Gather and file all repair and maintenance records for the vehicles. Keep all records organized and easily accessible. Input all vehicles and records into UpKeep, so regular maintenance is planned and scheduled. Ensure the fleet are cleaned on a monthly basis. Ensure fleet are detailed twice a year. Set up appointments with local mechanics to include delivery and pick up. Use general knowledge of mechanics to determine when vehicles need to be repaired or maintained. Ensure all insurance and registration for the fleet are present and up to date. Ensure all gas cards are present and accounted for. Meet regularly with the Facilities Director to participate in setting priorities and recommendations for repairs, remodeling, and replacement of facilities and equipment. Participate in the upkeep and maintenance of all vehicles and motor-driven equipment. Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, guests, and members of the RJKCCC. Maintain staff relationships and work cooperatively with the RJKCCC Management Team, and all Divisional staff. Interact professionally with individuals and groups having diverse backgrounds.
