The starting wage for this role is $34.80 per hour. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime. Key responsibilities
Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents.
Continually endorse the Quality & Food Safety Policies, assure conformance to all requirements of the Quality & Food Safety Management Systems, & take action to properly report failures of these systems to site management.
III. GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for supporting the Maintenance Supervisor in the coordination and/or execution of activities within the Maintenance group to ensure a productive workforce that supports the facility in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner. Repairs plant equipment, installs new equipment, and performs building maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. Above all the necessities mentioned below, the team lead needs to be able to:
-stay focused on getting the days work done, and lead his team members to stay focused,
-maintain a positive attitude amidst unplanned events of the day and
-be a part of the solution, not the problem
-willing to learn new skills that would benefit the plant and willing to teach the skills to the fellow team members
IV.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
A.Essential Functions:
1.In the absence of the Maintenance group lead, ensure critical activities of the group lead to keep the maintenance department working properly.
2.Assists the group lead in reviewing the current days schedule status of manpower availability daily,and facilitates the execution to plan.
3.Must be able to lead and help train fellow team members within the department.
4.Assists the Planner/Scheduler and Maintenance Engineer by recommending equipment and/or procedures to be included in preventative maintenance programs
5.Recommends and helps find permanent solutions to the issues that maintenance department faces in its day to day functioning
6.Keeps the maintenance staff properly informed on all abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside of their knowledge or authority
7.Works with various hand tools, power tools, welders and cutting equipment to repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment such as mixers, conveyors, compressors, and pumps
8.Repairs or replaces control devises such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, etc. as needed
9.Performs work order repairs, inspections and adjustments
10.Ensures fellow employees, contractors and visitors are following all applicable quality and food safety procedures and policies
11.Able to set up and operate welders, drill press, grinder, hand tools and other metal working equipment
12.Fabricates and modifies new and existing equipment.
13.Ability to troubleshoot to the I/O of controls.
14.Ability to connect to PLC and access program so that 3rd party may inspect/troubleshoot program.
15.Troubleshoots and repair electrical equipment; work with low voltage DC and 120, 240 and 480 volt AC power based on Electrician guidelines.
B.Marginal Functions:
1.Operate forklift and aerial lifts.
2.Help as required in the parts storeroom.

A. EDUCATION:2-year degree in Industrial technology, advanced manufacturing preferred,
B.EXPERIENCE:3+ years experience required. Prior experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred. Strong electrical troubleshooting and controls experience desired or ability to acquire within a reasonable time frame.
D. SKILLSMechanical repair, general welding, electrical troubleshooting, PLC troubleshooting, ability to use hand tools, hand-held power tools, and basic computer skills.
Must have the ability to work alone and in close cooperation with production personnel. Capable of working through complex problems alone or with others to provide logical solutions.
VII.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
A Maintenance Lead will be subject to working in areas of high noise level and in areas of hazards from wet floors. Burn hazards may exist when working on steam powered equipment. High degree of mobility is necessary as job requires much climbing, crawling, bending, and twisting. The ability to lift long and heavy lengths of pipe above the head and work from ladders, manlifts, etc. sometimes at heights exceeding 20 feet above the floor is required. Vessel entry and working in confined spaces may be required.
The ability to work outside for periods of time in temperatures varying from below zero to above 100F is also required. The ability to apply force to lift heavy equipment and operate wrenches, hammers, pry bars, etc. and apply sufficient force to tighten large nuts and bolts is also required. The ability to regularly lift 25 lbs is required as well as the ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs.
Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. A keen auditory sense is required to diagnose equipment problems.
