Maintenance Technician

**Job Description**
Ensure that all equipment is operating effectively and efficiently. Must have excellent proficiency in preventative maintenance, over-hauls, modification, fabrication, welding, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Must also have working knowledge of machine shop equipment and excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
+ Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs of production and processing equipment as well as utility related equipment, following all safety procedures
+ Support the installation of new equipment
+ Assist the operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime
+ Ensure all repairs are documented
+ Foster teamwork consistent with our company and plant Mission, Vision, and Core Values
+ Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
+ Follow all DFA GMP’s and works in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
+ Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
+ Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrived
+ Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgement
+ Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
+ Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

**Requirements**
+ High School Diploma/GED
+ Must have two (2) years of formal mechanical / electrical education certificate or equivalent work experience doing maintenance type work
+ Must be able to perform electrical work (change pump motors, diagnose motor control problems, etc.)
+ Must know pneumatics, solenoid valves, and air cylinders
+ Must be able to use standard maintenance tools in a safe manner
+ Must have the ability to perform minor projects from planning to installation. (Typically, this includes non-sanitary piping, drain lines, vacuum lines)
+ Must have the ability to perform routine repairs in a safe and timely fashion (rebuilding product/water pumps, boiler maintenance, HVAC, VFD’s, sanitary valves, piping leaks)
+ Must have the ability to perform routine preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment, identify any abnormal conditions, and maintain appropriate records
+ Must have the ability to perform basic welding for repair and fabrication (tig/stick)
+ Must have the ability to follow process control computer variables and schematics and diagnose system problems
+ Must have the ability to assist other mechanics on more complicated repairs in a safe and useful manner
+ Must have good interpersonal skills necessary to foster cooperation and effectively communicate with others
+ Must be able to successfully complete a written maintenance test conducted by Maintenance Supervisor
+ Basic computer skills
+ Must be able to read, write, and speak English
