U. S. Steel is seeking a High Voltage Electrical Lineman for its Fairfield Tubular Steel Operations in Fairfield, Alabama. The High Voltage Electrical Lineman job requires a trained and experienced individual to continue our success as one of world’s largest steel producers. This position performs electrical maintenance functions necessary to maintain our plant power supply.

Responsibilities: MV Switchgear repairMV and HV Switching in substations and sequence of SwitchingAbility to exercise 3-part communication for switchingMV Breaker repairs, testing and troubleshootingHi-pot MV cabling per IEEE/NEC code and calculate acceptable readingsHV and MV transformersHV and MV transmission lines and pole riggingsReading of one line/single-line diagrams and explaining the symbols and their functionsSpecific Gravity Battery Testing and Battery MaintenanceElectrical Safety around MV and HV equipmentWorking around 115 KV all the way down to 120 volts.Pole hardware and riggingRunning insulated bucket truck and Derrick digger pole truck. Protection relays operation, ANSI fault code/identification, and troubleshooting of power distribution systemAdherence to safety procedures/guidelines at all times.
