U. S. Steel's Minnesota Ore Operations includes two iron ore mines in Northern Minnesota. The Minntac Facility in Mountain Iron has an exciting vacancy for an Iron Worker Maintenance Technician Mechanical.
As an Iron Worker Maintenance Technician Mechanical, you will play a key role in maintaining continuous operations in our heavy industrial environment. Your expertise in mechanical systems will ensure the smooth functioning of our operating and service equipment. You'll utilize standard and specialized tools, including pendant and overhead cranes and forklifts, to perform your duties effectively.
Responsibilities:Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair: Work with a broad range of mechanical systems and equipment such as hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and power transmission systems, conveyors, cranes, and mobile equipment.Operational support: Provide assistance in operating functions as necessary to maintain efficiency.May be required to work at heights and/or in confined space.May work alone with minimal supervision or with other maintenance technicians.Metal fabrication: Fabricate metal parts following blueprints or supervisor instructions. Utilize various welding processes (Arc, TIG, MIG, etc.) and operate related equipment (shear, press brake, punch, etc.) to complete your tasks.Work in various areas of the plant where environmental conditions can be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy.Requirements:Minimum of 1 year manufacturing and/or industrial experience (including relevant experience gained in military service) or equivalent education. This includes experience in any of the following: hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, power transmission systems, welding, pipefitting, structural repair, and diesel mechanic.Requires a minimum of 1 year of welding related working experience or formal education.High School Diploma or GEDThe position requires you to work 8 hour rotating shifts, which will include Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays.The position requires overtime work as needed.Adherence to safety procedures/guidelines always.
