Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the environment of the hospital including general knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and drywall.  Additional responsibilities include documenting tests on mechanical devices (e.g., emergency generators, hot water tanks, plumbing , electrical appliances, and HVAC units) and completing other maintenance tasks and reports.

Required Skills:

Knowledge of general construction practices and procedures involved in the maintenance and repair of building structure. Ability to perform rough carpentry (e.g., concrete, mill work, furniture, woodworking) using hand and power carpentry tools to accomplish work assignments. Ability to repair and/or install builiding plumbing fixtures (e.g., shower valves, urinals, faucets, water closets, water heaters, ) to complete projects and ensure facilties function properly. Knowledge of manual hand tools used in the completion of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and construction work. Ability to perform grounds keeping maintenance including lawn mowing, trimming, etc.

License or Certification:

CPI per company policy. Valid Drivers’ License required per company policy.

Education, Vocational Training and Experience:

High School diploma or general education degree. 1 – 2 years of experience and/or training in comprehensive building maintenance.

 

Machines, Equipment Used:

General Office Equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer General Carpentry tools such as hand and power carpentry tools

 

Physical Requirements:

Good visual acuity and ability to communicate. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and ability push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds, which includes the lifting, pushing and/or pulling of supplies and equipment.

 

Compliance:

Adheres to the company’s Compliance Code of Conduct. Maintains current licensure and/or certification, if applicable.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to speak, read, write and communicate effectively. Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner. Ability to work independently without supervision.

 

Environmental Conditions:

Indoor, temperature controlled. Occasional outdoor exposure. Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids, may be required. Handicapped accessible. May work under stressful circumstances at times. Occasional exposure to high risk behaviors that may result in agitation, aggression or violence.

 

Proficiency or Productivity Standards:

Meets established attendance standards. Adheres to hospital/department dress code including wearing ID badge. May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and night shifts, if needed. May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts. Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e., before, during or after a disaster. May be required to stay after the workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives. May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
