Maintenance Trainee

The Maintenance Trainee will work with minimal supervision to troubleshoot and repair line calls on our shingle manufacturing line. He/she will be familiar with all types of mechanical and electrical systems and will work with others to minimize downtime while always conducting themselves in a safe, professional manner. This individual will participate in training classes as assigned to improve their job knowledge. This individual will be responsible for completing 100% of all assigned PM tasks and entering all work order data into the SAP database. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor that are required for the success of the operation.
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:-**
+ Must be willing to be trained in all aspects of maintenance
+ Must be capable of basic and minor equipment repair and willing to learn fabrication, welding, and millwork
+ Responsible (with department supervisor) for ensuring that any procedures, and/or practices within the department, are being followed
+ Assist with any maintenance reporting or department paperwork as necessary
+ Must be willing and able to perform other job functions as needed
+ Maintain a clean and safe work environment
+ Perform other duties as assigned

+ Must have proven mechanical ability and aptitude that shows a true desire to develop their mechanical knowledge and skill level
+ Ability to demonstrate understanding of basic mechanical requirements such as use of proper tools and their designed purpose
+ Basic PC and Microsoft Office proficiency
+ High School diploma or GED preferred
+ Training in areas related to industrial maintenance a plus
+ A basic understanding of 2-3 of the following 5 maintenance areas; Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic and/or Elect. desired
+ Ability to learn on the go to increase skill set through both a hands-on and educational environment
+ Ability to use CMMS and document required information as requested
+ Ability to demonstrate understanding of basic mechanical requirements such as use of proper tools and their designed purpose
+ Must demonstrate knowledge through means of written test as requested
+ Complete work as assigned to ensure efficient, cost effective and timely repairs to production equipment
+ Ensure all safety, housekeeping and environmental rules and guidelines are followed
+ Manage assigned inventory to acceptable levels
+ Ensure all pertinent data related to ME Trainee activities is correct and documented
+ Drive improvements in maintenance performance indicators to increase plant profitability
+ Actively participate in all departmental training and continuous improvement activities
+ Trainee Technician must furnish their own tools/toolbox
+ This position requires most weekends and Holidays as work days
**PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:-** **-** Ability to work an average of 40 hours per week, speak clearly so others understand, vision acuity for this position include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Acceptance of criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations, sensitivity to other’s needs, positive demeanor, and model change management for the business. Ability to lift 75 pounds on a continual basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk.- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.- The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk and hear.-
