Maintenance Welder
*Summary/General Description Of Job\:

The Maintenance Welder uses hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentions or seams of fabricated metal products.

  Essential Duties & Job Functions\:

§  Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, plant equipment, mobile homes or specialized trailers, motors and generators, railroad tracks, hand rails, bar gates, crane rails, etc. according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc, gas, and other appropriate welding processes and equipment.

§  Welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes.

§  Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.

§  Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts.

§  Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.

§  May locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch.

§  May perform repairs only.

§  May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.

§  Performs other related duties as assigned.

May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment.  Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.

*Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations)\: Mandatory

•       Four years’ experience as a welder.

•       Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading, measurement, and layout).

•       Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications.

•       Must hold current qualification in accordance with A.W.S. D1.1‑75 (American Welding Society) for 3/8" grooved weld plate in the vertical and overhead position.

•       Must be able to certify on 3/8" plate within 60 working days, and 2" and 6" pipe within 120 days.

•       Must also have working knowledge of other areas of qualifications as specified by A.W.S. and ASME codes.

•       Must obtain and maintain required explosive certification when assigned to ordnance operations.

•       Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license with acceptable driving record.

•       Must meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required.

•       Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

•       Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment.

•       Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.

•       U.S. Citizenship.

 

Wages –$38.17 per hr
