**Position Summary:** The Children's Aid Society runs a 53-camp facility in Chappaqua, NY. Multiple program are run there: summer day camp, overnight respite program for developmentally delayed children, adventure day programming, special events, and weekend retreats through the academic year.
**Essential Duties: **The Maintenance Worker is responsible to carry out maintenance and custodial tasks for the camp at the direction of the Facility Manager. Those task fall into four categories: Custodial, Mechanical/Maintenance, Grounds and Special Events:
** Custodial**
· Picking up litter and taking garbage and recycling to the dumpsters
· Cleaning cabins, dining hall and bathrooms
· Cleaning and maintaining indoor floor surfaces.
· Keeping track of building supplies
· Taking in and storing deliveries
· Setting up the camp for programming and cleaning up after.
· Moving furniture and equipment around the camp for programming and storage purposes.
**Mechanical/Maintenance**
· Performing repairs involving plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and road surface
· Excavating as needed for drainage improvements.
· Installing new doors, water heaters, insulation, fencing, and other upgrades appropriate for the maintenance staff.
· Working with the Facilities Manager, plan and complete renovation projects at the camp: i.e., replacement of floor joists, flooring, ceilings, and minor demolition.
· Operation of rental machinery: mini-excavators, post hole diggers, etc.
· Assisting in the opening, maintaining and closing of the pools
· Painting: indoor and outdoor surfaces
**Grounds**
· Mowing lawns with commercial mowers
· Field Maintenance: nail dragging, raking, soil amendments
· Cleaning roofs and gutters
· Managing the camp drainage system: cleaning catch basins
· Snow removal and salting of pathways
· Maintaining landscaping: weed control, pruning trees, transplanting, cutting and cleaning up fallen trees
· Maintaining the horse corral facility in the summer: shelters, fencing, and surface.
**Special Events**
· Managing parking for events
· Assisting with corporate volunteer groups that do maintenance projects
** Minimum Qualifications:**
· NYS Driver’s License
· 3-5 years of experience in building and grounds maintenance
· Ability to lift and/or carry 50+lbs
· Flexibility with work schedule on as needed basis; some weekend/evening work may be required
· Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment
