MAINTENANCE WORKER
Summary About the position:This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 47th Force Support Squadron at Laughlin Manor, Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas. This position is considered Regular Full Time (RFT). Guaranteed 35 hours a week with potential to a maximum of 40 hours per week. You may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. RFT employees are eligible to earn annual and sick leave as well as benefits including Health/Dental and Life Insurance, 401k and Retirement. Responsibilities Works closely with and assists the Custodial Worker Supervisor by performing the less complex maintenance functions. As assigned, checks cleaning/outside equipment on a regular basis to ascertain serviceability under minimal supervision makes minor repairs/replaces parts on items like vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, coffee makers, lawn equip. Shampooers and weedeaters. Makes minor repair of furniture to include gluing, sanding, and nailing damaged areas; moves furniture into/out of warehouse and rooms as required. (Major furniture repairs are accomplished through contract maintenance) Repairs and/or installs drapery rods, venetian blinds, shades, towel racks, showerheads; repairs clogged drains; shampoo's carpe. Repairs small holes in walls and doors to include patching, sanding, and painting as required. Paints small areas and whole walls as directed; installs and repairs wall covering; maintains/shampoos carpets as required. Repairs lamps to include rewiring, changing switches and lamp plugs; replaces electrical outlet covers/switch covers as needed. Waters lawns, cuts grass and trims greenery around buildings and maintains grass and flower beds; fertilizes lawns and shrubs. Operates vehicles (pickup or van) up to I-ton capacity in the performance of assigned duties; fulfills the duties of the lodging Vehicle Control Officer (VCO) and maintains interior/exterior cleanliness of lodging vehicles. Receives supplies; maintains/organizes warehouse where lodging equipment/supplies are stored. Prepares/maintains documentation by electronic means as required; must have general computer skills; knowledge of MS Office programs preferred. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience/knowledge of carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance. Must have a working knowledge of various hand and power tools. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to operate up to 1 ton truck. Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
