Job Summary
Under immediate supervision, is responsible for performing manual labor with a wide variety of construction and maintenance work. Depending on area of assignment, may be responsible for providing laundry and repair/mending service to maintain table skirts and covers. Exercises no supervision.

11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
Essential Job Functions
+ Utilizes maintenance equipment to perform maintenance duties which may include sweeping, dusting, mopping, and may perform exterior yard/grounds maintenance such as, maintaining shrubs and flowers, clearing weeds and brush, mowing and trimming public areas, tree maintenance to include trimming/pruning, and maintaining/performing custodial duties in all public areas.
+ Appropriately utilizes, maintains, and stores cleaners and chemicals.
+ Prepares City facilities for various City events, as well as, dissemble and store.
+ Inspects equipment and reports any equipment in need of maintenance or repair.
+ Operates tractor mower, dump truck, and other small equipment.
+ Loads trucks with sand, gravel, or waste material using a hand shovel, lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
+ Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
+ Formal or informal education or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
+ One (1) year of experience in labor or maintenance
Preferred Qualifications
+ Janitorial experience.

+ Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
+ Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio in this position must receive satisfactory results from pre-employment drug testing and background checks. If required for the position, a physical, motor vehicle record evaluation, and additional background checks may be conducted.

+ Knowledge of manual labor tasks.
+ Knowledge of hazards and safety measures as they apply to the type of work being performed.
+ Knowledge of methods, equipment, and materials as they relate to the type of work being performed.
+ Ability to understand and follow instructions.
+ Ability to learn basic laundering techniques, depending on area of assignment.
+ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
+ Ability to perform all physical requirements of the job, with or without accommodations.
+ Working conditions are inside and outside with routine repeated exposure to temperature variations, damp/wet surfaces, hazardous materials, and dirty environment.
