Sonographer, Multi Registered

Job Description

 

I. Position Summary:

Performs breast sonography including sonography assisted interventional procedures utilizing real-time high frequency ultrasonic waves and high technology equipment, ensures that quality patient care is provided.

Position Relationships:

A. Responsible to: Center for Women’s Imaging Supervisor
B. Workers Supervised: None
C. Interrelationships: Constant contact with other imaging personnel,
patients, radiologists and staff physicians. Frequent contact with other personnel and patient's relatives.

Responsibilities and Authorities:
A. Performs other duties as assigned by the department's management staff.
B. As patient care and/or Hospital need dictates, both the assigned shift and
work station may be changed by the department.
C. Participates in and promotes the “I CARE” service philosophy of Integrity,
Customer Centered, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
D. Performs essential job functions with or without reasonable
accommodations.
E. Performs ultrasound exams in a filmless environment as directed by
physicians. Works closely with radiologists to provide a quality examination for accurate diagnosis.
F. Can operate PACS/RIS equipment competently.
G. Reports equipment failure as necessary. Prepares and maintains records
and reports for this area.

H. Maintains supplies for the area at appropriate levels. Maintains
organization and cleanliness of room.
I. Works with sonography students assisting in training and education as
needed.

 Qualifications:

A. Education

Must be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in two areas of certification.

B. Training and Experience:

Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association upon hire or transfer to department.

C. Job Knowledge:

This position requires initiative and independent judgment. Person must be able to perform exams independently, quickly and accurately.

VI. Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

A. Occasionally required to lift and position patients for procedures.

B. Possible hazardous exposure to infectious diseases or radiation exposure.
