Job Details Responsibilities: Prepares patient, room, and equipment for procedure Obtains and examines requisition for radiographic examination to familiarize self with procedure and patient’s condition. Checks patient identification before prior to beginning procedure in order to ensure testing is performed on correct patient. Obtains patient history, including clinical documentation, prior to performing procedure. Documents all relevant information on patient record and department files. Explains procedure to patient and assists patient throughout procedure. Completes assigned caseload on a timely basis and evaluates radiographs Performs job duties without error and accomplishes work within appropriate time standards of the department. Evaluates procedures for technical quality and completeness. Adapts to new or unusual situations or changes without affecting performance or work procedures within the department. Demonstrates awareness of, and practices radiation safety procedures Demonstrates competence in operating ionizing radiation producing X-ray equipment minimizing radiation to patient, staff, self, while maximizing image quality. Utilize knowledge of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, in order to produce optimal mammography images Obtains and reviews patient questionnaire Shields patients whenever and wherever possible. Inquires of all female patients of child bearing age as to their LMP and/or possible pregnancy. Documents same on requisition. Conforms to policies governing patient abuse, patient safety, confidentiality and advanced directives. Observes patient and equipment during procedure and documents and reports unusual occurrences Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and equipment as well as maintaining technical integrity of equipment utilized Maintains room stock and emergency medication. Checks expiration dates on both contrast media and medications prior to use. Cleans and disinfects Mammography and Xray equipment and scan rooms. Demonstrates competence in operating Mammo, Bone density and X-Ray equipment Operates computerized controls of Mammography, Bone density scanners and Xray equipment, enters commands necessary to visualize and manipulate images. Operates various peripheral equipment. Requirements: Education: High school diploma or GED required. Must be a graduate of an accredited two-year program in radiologic technology from an AMA approved School of Radiology Licensure/Certification: Must be licensed/registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and New York State with injection certification. Mammography Certification preferred Skills, Knowledge or Abilities: Knowledge of radiographic equipment. Will be required to work with ionizing radiation producing equipment, computers, contrast agents, and other medical equipment and communication devices Salary Range USD $44.69 - USD $58.80 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
