Job Summary:
Under the direction of a Radiologist and Manager performs mammographic and bone density procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement and assumes responsibility to acquire images for accurate radiologic diagnosis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
+ Identifies/verifies correct patient information onto X-ray image including spelling, date and medical record number.
+ Reviews requisition for pertinent information, special requests and correct procedure ordered.
+ Evaluates images to assure that they possess the density, contrast, detail, and structures necessary to allow the radiologist to make a diagnosis.
+ Performs routine mammography and special views with accuracy and minimizes repeats to 2% or below as standard.
+ Completes assigned examination within prescribed amount of time according to procedure.
+ Uses proper compression device according to body habitus and identifies proper laterality markers on images according to procedural guide.
+ Prepares equipment and assists physicians during interventional procedures and in case review.
+ Completes all required processes to assure no late charges and assists with cost containment efforts.
+ Call and schedule recall patients who need additional imaging/testing.
+ Starts and completes exams and add supplies as needed in RIS.
+ Assures there is a physician order for appropriate procedures and reviews order for all necessary pertinent information.
+ Reviews patient history form with patient and assures all information is correct and updated in RIS.
+ Reviews all images in PACS and closes out each procedure as reviewed.
+ Scans and attaches appropriate documentation for each patient in PACS, and understands/performs moving images and or merging studies in PACS
+ Evaluates equipment available and makes sure patient information is recorded appropriately.
+ Maintain patient, departmental confidentiality – HIPPA regulations.
+ Identifies/Resolves issues appropriately and completes necessary documentation and consults manager/supervisor.
+ In collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team and management team, identifies and implements unit goals that support the highest quality of patient care delivered.
+ Displays a positive attitude and assumes responsibility for the completion of the workload during their shift.
+ During low workload utilizes time to help other co-workers, update education status, read continuing education materials, organize department, stock supplies and provides preventative maintenance on equipment.
+ Completes annual net learning requirements.
+ Other duties as consistent with this role.
Job Requirements: (education and experience/preferred and required)
Education and Experience
+ ARRT Certification and Radiation licensure required
+ Basic Life Support required
+ Completion of formal Radiologic Technologist training and meets all requirements of Full Field Digital Mammography and 3D Tomosynthesis Training as required by the ACR.
+ Maintains a minimum of 15 CEU’s in previous 36 months required by FDA MQSA.
+ Earns 24 CEU’s during individual biennium as described by the ARRT with a minimum of 12 CEU’s in Cat. A satisfying ARRT requirement.
+ Performs a minimum of 200 mammograms within a 24-month period as required by FDA MQSA.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Must p ossess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
