Department Details

Growing mammography dept performing both screening and diagnostic mammography, soon to have Mobile Mammo as well as active Breast Clinic.

Summary

Operates mammography equipment and performs various mammography-related examinations to produce radiograph images for clinical screening and diagnostic purposes.

Job Description

Ensures accurate body positioning and provides mammograms to women under direct supervision. Implements radiation safety standards and relevant policies into imaging practices. Processes and evaluates the technical quality of images. Delivers care and support services to clients before, during, and after mammogram procedures (e.g. explaining procedures, answering inquires, etc.).

Possesses a positive attitude, compassion, and an acceptance of diversity. Maintains records and updates history associated with mammography. Educates women the importance of mammography in preventing breast cancer. Demonstrates knowledge and an understanding of anatomy, pathology, physiology, and medical terminology. Maintains continuing education credits as necessary.

Sanford Rural Health Network Facility sites may expand job responsibilities based on the needs of the facility, to include, but not limited to: on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. Perform diagnostic radiology procedures. Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and aware of general radiology protocols. May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.

Qualifications

Must have completed an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Experience in mammography to include 40 hours of continuing education and 40 hours of supervised patient care. Thorough understanding of mammography techniques and procedures.

Must be registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). Become certified in Mammography within one year of being hired. Associates working in mobile unit must have valid drivers license and a good driving record.
