Management Associate - Engineering

Management Associates are provided between 12-24 months of training across multiple functional areas with work assignments designed to assist in both personal and skill-set development. The role may include rotational assignment(s) within the department. This program is designed to strengthen leadership capabilities to prepare the college graduate for advanced roles within our operations or in a number of disciplines that support our operations. Minnesota Ore Operations, Minntac and Keetac have the following opening for a Mining Engineer. This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Apply geologic and related engineering problem-solving knowledge and skills in an open-pit mining environment.Supervise and direct unionized employees to ensure maximum worker efficiency and safety.Be able to consult with and direct mine production personnel in order to successfully execute mine plans of varying lengths.Work with consultants and local stakeholders (lease-holders) to maximize in-ground resources.Engage in planning functions to maximize pit productivity while employing good engineering fundamentals.Use Mine Planning software to initiate process improvements and optimize mining sequence.Utilize tools in AutoCAD and MineSight to develop geologic models and reserves, production sequencing, haulage routes and stockpile designs.Work effectively with the Mine Production group and staff Mining Engineers to ensure compliance with the mine plan and to adjust as necessary to meet quality and volume goals.Work on mine projects with a goal of improving safety, quality, cost, and production levels.
Preferred Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Mining EngineeringMust have at least a 2.75 GPA, will accept 2.5 with experienceGraduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university at the time of hireExperience with Mine Planning Software preferred.Extensive computer skills and ability to learn new software’s quicklyExcellent organizational, verbal, and written skillsAbility to multitask and to work independentlyA willingness and eagerness to learn from others in the organization.Preferred Skills:We are looking for motivated self-starters that can work in a fast paced, data-driven environment.
