Scope:
This role covers financial responsibilities for CooperVision’s North American (Americas) entities. It involves collaboration with local and global operations teams, finance, IT, commercial, tax, divisional CVI, and the CVI consolidations team. It may also include managing relationships with external parties (e.g., sales & use tax consultants).
Job Summary:
The General Accounting Manager is responsible for North America accounting and financial reporting to Corporate. Duties include preparing and reviewing ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and regulatory reporting (e.g., tax, SEC filings). The role also includes researching accounting issues for GAAP compliance and supervising accounting staff.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
Oversee monthly and quarterly close and financial reporting for Americas entitiesManage close processes including AR, AP, cost accounting, revenue, rebates, and intercompany transactionsPresent financial statements to the Finance Leadership TeamLead account reconciliation review meetings with local finance managementProvide technical accounting guidance to finance leadership and business segmentsEnsure compliance with internal controls and remediate deficiencies; recommend policies and proceduresOwn SOX processes and procedures within general accountingServe as key contact for corporate accounting, consolidations, and internal/external auditorsReview and approve journal entries and account reconciliationsCompile and sign off on monthly/quarterly SOX checklists, webforms, and other deliverablesManage inventory and lease accounting systems; coordinate close with distribution, manufacturing, and other functionsReview and approve monthly close processes, including analytical review of operating resultsEvaluate and improve general accounting processes for efficiency and effectivenessOrganize, select, and review account reconciliations for North American entities

Limited travel required (less than 5%, approximately 3 weeks per year)

Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance requiredCPA highly preferredExperience
8–10 years of progressive accounting experienceLeadership experience requiredExperience in fixed assets and cost accountingExperience in consolidations, shared services, and global/international environments preferredSEC reporting experience desirableExperience with Oracle ERP systems a plusTechnical Skills

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $96,496.00 and $137,851.00. per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
