About the role: The lean manufacturing manager provides oversight over the business process improvement (lean) team. Responsible for the overall improvement of manufacturing and assembly processes, team development and to ensure compliance to a standardized approach. Employs lean methodologies and tools to accomplish business objectives.
Essential Responsibilities Strategic alignment with production, quality, finance, and other key stakeholders to implement lean manufacturing projects.Mentor and coach teams and coordinate continuous improvement efforts.Develop business plans for capital projects to outline ROI.Present capital project plans to senior and executive leadership.Collaborate with engineering, programming, and operations to explore new machining technology and acquire new advanced CNC machines integrated with automated solutions.Lead continuous improvement, Kaizen, SMED, and other lean events to reduce equipment setup time, improve inefficient processes, and implement other cost reduction initiatives.Report on progress of projects, understanding the risks, dependencies, budgets, resourcing, issues, critical milestones and forthcoming pipeline, and actions necessary to ensure success.Participate in Gemba/morning market walks and act on escalations by implementing engineering solutions.Input and hold responsibility for lean manufacturing budgets.A change agent leader following proper engineering change management processes.Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.Communicate with CNC programmers, production management, machinists, operators, and engineering to achieve solutions to both capacity planning and quality level.Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business.Black Belt in Six Sigma preferred, not required.Must have Lean/Six Sigma experience.10-15+ years manufacturing experience.5+ years applying lean fundaments in a manufacturing environment.2+ years supervising direct reports.Strong MS Project experience.Knowledge of machining fundamentals and processes. CNC Programming experience not required.Must wear required safety equipment such as safety shoes and safety glasses (provided).Occasional outdoor exposure to hot, cold, and/or damp weather.Daily exposure to dusts, fumes, metal chips, and odors from an industrial environment.#LI-SS2
