Manager, Application Development and Maintenance

Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.

Technical Manager Responsibilities:

Lead technical teams and SMEs, providing leadership for crucial platforms and services in Pharma and Med eCommerce applications.Manage critical technologies (Coveo, Adobe, Google Looker, HCl Commerce, etc.) and vendor relationships.Collaborate with peer operational managers to provide SRE-based delivery and support for mission-critical applications.Build and maintain relationships with business counterparts and vendor partners to ensure accountability and delivery.Gain an in-depth understanding of the functionality and role of responsible technologies within the overall ecosystem.Work closely with business and technology partners to understand and implement builds, enhancements, and additional features for owned platforms.Develop business cases for annual tech refreshes and business enhancements, optimizing cost models for continuous support, platform stability, and performance.Initiate and lead cross-functional IT projects as required.Oversee the effective development, delivery, and operation of technology, platforms, and applications.Manage relationships, projects, and budgets with internal IT, business teams, and external vendors.Provide leadership during system outages, problem resolution, root cause analysis, and implement additional monitoring as needed.Anticipate, plan, and deliver IT solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.Manage the organization’s software systems in a cross-functional team environment, adhering to established design control processes and good engineering practices.Partner with business leaders to investigate user needs and conduct regular assessments, maintenance, and enhancements of existing applications.

Qualifications:

8-12 years of experience in managing customer-facing applications and their operations preferred.BA, BS, or equivalent experience in a related field preferred. Advanced degree preferred.5+ years of experience managing technical teams, with prior experience leading globally distributed teams.Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to work directly with business leaders.Proven ability to develop individuals and teams and manage individual performance.Thorough understanding of software testing methodologies and processes, including functional, performance, and non-functional testing.Experience with agile project methodology and tools.Ability to understand the criticality of customer issues, prioritize tasks, and manage resources for quick resolutionCapability to hold partners accountable and work closely with them to address issues.
