We're seeking a Manager of Applied Science to lead our Manufacturing Science team in making revolutionary leaps forward in these spaces. In this highly critical role, you will oversee a talented team working with multimodal datasets to build large-scale models and AI-based systems for optimizing manufacturing and fulfillment processes by combining methods from several science domains with domain knowledge across multiple businesses into sophisticated ML workflows and integrating them into manufacturing cells across the world to transform the publishing industry. Key job responsibilities * Lead with Integrity and Insight: Direct a team of Applied Scientists and specialists focused on automating and optimizing manufacturing, fulfillment, and inventory. Foster a culture of innovation, ethical standards, and scientific rigor. * Operate a research and innovation program to drive forward the state of the art within a highly customer-oriented business environment. * Strategic Manufacturing Optimization: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to automate and optimize book manufacturing, fulfillment, quality, and inventory. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement robust solutions, and adapt to evolving business needs. * Collaboration and Influence: Provide expertise and guidance to product managers, teams, and organizations involved in manufacturing and fulfillment of books. Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to stay informed of industry trends. * Upholding Standards: Ensure all content and user interactions meet Amazon's high standards, maintaining customer trust and safety of our employees, services, and operations. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience - Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval and Analytics Preferred Qualifications - Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application - Experience building complex software systems, especially involving deep learning, machine learning and computer vision, that have been successfully delivered to customers Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $165,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $286,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
