Job Summary As a member of the Business Risk Management leadership team, develops and implements strategic and operational plans related to the implementation of BRM’s vision, mission and overall goals and objectives. The Manager, Bank Audit provides leadership and direction to the bank audit team including supervising and developing audit staff and providing guidance to senior business leaders in identifying, analyzing, and managing business risks. Serves as key contact to senior executives in the newly created Thrivent Bank. Prepare and deliver presentations to Thrivent Bank Board of Directors and Audit Committee. Manages and develops staff carrying out risk assessments and audit assignments. Job Responsibilities and Duties + Build and maintain a high-performing team; select, develop, coach, reward and recognize team members. + Provide leadership and direction to the bank audit team for the development and execution of a risk-based audit plan, ensuring coverage of key risks and alignment with the bank’s strategic objectives. + Supervise and provide work direction to staff and co-sourcing resources to ensure the successful completion of department objectives. + Provide support and guidance to senior business leaders in identifying, analyzing and managing their business risks in relation to desired business objectives. + Lead efforts to audit or conduct risk assessments across Thrivent Bank. + Maintain extensive subject matter expertise in the areas of banking business environment risks, and related governance practices, including relevant laws and regulations, industry changes and the impact of technology. + Monitor and keep abreast of industry developments and risks and determine the impact on Thrivent Bank. Make any necessary adjustments to audit plans regarding emerging risks. + Prepare materials and present to Thrivent Bank’s Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. + Work with Head of BRM in support of departmental planning, budgeting, recruiting and results measurement (scorecard). + Manage Bank Audit’s assurance and consulting projects within desired budgets and timelines. + Coordinate efforts with relevant control functions and external auditors to enhance the quality of information available to them and avoid redundancy of efforts. Review the results from relevant audits and exams performed by outside auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken. + Model Thrivent’s leadership competencies – Model the Way, Rally the Team, and Deliver Outcomes. ​ + Support and/or develop an environment in which Thrivent employees and colleagues are focused on continuous improvement, exceptional employee engagement, and an unwavering commitment to our clients. Job Qualifications Required: + Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance. (Other degrees considered with sufficient, relevant work experience.) Advanced degree desirable. + Significant business experience (10+ years) in internal auditing in the banking industry. + CIA designation required within 24 months. Other industry related designations (CPA, CISA, CFSA, CFE) highly desirable. + Significant experience working with bank audit and bank regulators (FDIC). Preferred: + Experience working with industrial banks (ILC chartered). + Demonstrated people leadership skills; encourage an environment of teamwork, accountability and open communication. + Ability to build collaborative relationships. + Sound decision-making and good judgment. + Ability to apply business acumen to influence risk management at all levels of the organization. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $124,010.00 - $167,778.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
