This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the CHR Corporate Human Resources division.
The Benefits Manager provides oversight and management of employee benefit programs for US and Headquarters, including program design, vendor or consultant selection, implementation planning and execution, budget administration, data analytics, and ongoing vendor and program management/administration. Evaluates benefit programs and marketplace – along with data analytics - to improve employee experience and maximize spend. Develops and delivers proposals for leadership review/consideration. Partners with multiple cross-functional internal and external partners to deliver benefit programs and services. Develop and deliver communication channels including internal and external website content, employee communication campaigns, employee presentations, and external media to advance Abbott’s reputation.
What You’ll Work On
Oversees the family care solutions services within the U.S., including service delivery, program evaluation, contract negotiation, vendor management, and marketing.Serves as the liaison to Early Discoveries, Lake County’s On-Site Child Care Center that annually provides service to over 800 Abbott and AbbVie children.Direct oversight of the Child Care Center Budget and consult with Bright Horizons on Early Discoveries Operation Budget.Ensures comprehensive crisis planning and crisis management plans are in place and drills performed inclusive of Abbott resources including responses to active shooter, hostage situations, site wide or individual illness/injury, pandemic, tornado, fire, or other disaster. Ensure safety, minimize risk, and adhere to compliance requirements for Early Discoveries related to state and county licensure regulations.Oversees and administers Abbott’s long term service agreement with AbbVie for shared use of Early Discoveries which includes partnering to review performance, key metrics, budget, and action items.Works closely with Employee Relations, Finance, Human Resources, Safety, Employee Health, Risk Management, Security, Engineering Services, Food Service, Public Affairs, and Legal to ensure appropriate support of Early Discoveries.Facilitates cross-functional integration of benefit plans and HR functions; in particular, ensures effective coordination with Abbott’s health plans, wellness, Talent Acquisition, Diversity and Inclusion, and HR Communications.Manage Abbott’s U.S. Child Care Access and Discount Programs – including multi-vendor management, marketing, and contract negotiations.Manage Abbott’s Adoption Assistance and Foster Care Reimbursement Programs, including program marketing, administration, and program enhancement as needed.Monitor trends for parental, foster, and family care leave of absences. Create recommendations for leadership review and implement all approved changes in partnership.Support the overall Benefits Team serving as benefits project manager for various practice center activities including survey/best lists submissions, wellness activities including annual programs and on-site activities.Serve as liaison to Diversity & Inclusion, including Abbott’s Employee Networks. Provide connection and education on Abbott U.S. Benefit programs, along with collaboration for improvements aligned with employee needs and benchmarking.Evaluate employee benefit programs and service providers, including contract review and negotiations.Scope/Accountability of Position
Position reports directly to the Director, BenefitsResponsible for planning, implementing, administrating, and communicating Early Discoveries on-site childcare center for 800+ Abbott and AbbVie children from infants through 12 years old.Oversight of 2 direct, and over 120+ indirect, contract reports through Early Discoveries.Leads the following programs: Care.com, Adoption Assistance, Foster Care Assistance, U.S. Childcare Center Discount Programs, TutorMe, Long-Term Care Insurance for 36,000 + domestic employees and their families.Supports Abbott’s work/life initiatives, best places to work submissions, and Diversity & Inclusion Employee Networks.Regularly conducts peer and marketplace benchmarking related to family care and family care related time off programming.Internal and external marketing of benefit programs and services in collaboration with HR Communications and Public Affairs.Direct and indirect budget responsibility of $9.2MMRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Finance preferred 5 or more years in Human Resources with a background in EAP, child care, or related servicesStrong vendor management experience including an understanding of childcare program deliveryStrong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and people skillsStrong influencing and negotiation skills Strong project management and analytical skills* Participants who complete a short wellness assessment qualify for FREE coverage in our HIP PPO medical plan. The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
