Reporting to the Director of Clinical Engineering(CE), the position of Clinical Engineering Manager is responsible for safety, quality assurance and projects related to medical equipment throughout the medical equipment life cycle.
This position is responsible for the implementation of Atlantic Health’s Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), the guidance of Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMET) and Atlantic Hospital Offsite Practice Supervisor. Manages medical equipment evaluations and the process for medical equipment involved in adverse events. Works with the CE Regulatory Manager on all recalls, safety notifications and hazard alerts for medical equipment including vendors' response, corrective actions, internal documentation, and communications. Working with a multidisciplinary team, manages equipment safety evaluations and produces reports for Atlantic Health System Safety Committee. Assists with medical equipment data QA and standardization, compliance with policies, accreditation standards, and licensing regulations associated with equipment included in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Prepares performance reports for medical equipment management program and departmental performance dashboards. Manages projects related to clinical equipment technology assessments, acquisitions, and implementations.
Job Responsibilities
Organize, direct, and coordinate the operation of the Clinical Engineering Department.
Review vendor contracts to assist Director in evaluating value, accuracy, and effectiveness.
Analyze equipment maintenance history reports to assist the Director in making medical equipment replacement recommendations.
Participate as an advisor in pre-purchase planning and evaluation for medical equipment acquisition and installation.
Review patient care equipment incident reports and recommend corrective action if needed.
Monitor and approve expenditures to ensure cost effectiveness and compliance. Review costs that will affect hospital budget with Director.
Approve written inspection and preventive maintenance procedures for medical equipment listed in the CMMS.Assure the completion of preventive maintenance inspections to meet regulatory standards.
Develop, maintain, and report the annual evaluation of the objective, scope performance and effectiveness of the MEMP.
Informs Director of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, medical equipment adverse events, and any customer concerns as necessary.
Ensures proper service delivery and activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians.
Assists Director with the implementation of MEMP, The Joint Commission, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other regulatory agencies' standards.
Assures documentation, policies & procedures and team members assessment tools are current and updated. Assures service completed and documentation submitted is accurate, complete, and timely.
