In this vital role you will be responsible for supporting end-to-end activities across the Ventures portfolio and new investment opportunities, including initial review and diligence of new investment opportunities, and supporting current portfolio company activities. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a comprehensive understanding of venture capital and biopharma business concepts, due to frequent interactions with external parties and internal collaborators. Integral to the investment team, this role ensures proficient portfolio management and efficient deal operations, with the goal of supporting Amgen’s innovation strategy, helping more patients and creating value for stakeholders across the organization. **Daily responsibilities include:** + Act as a key member of various deal teams to support the diligence and execution of new and follow-on investments that are aligned to corporate objectives + Distill insights, investment recommendations, deal analysis and thematic observations into executive-friendly presentations for senior leadership + Serve as key point person between Accounting and STAT teams to align on financial reporting and diligence related to the portfolio and investments + Maintain database of all VC relationships and relevant information for a central repository for the Business Development organization **Additional responsibilities include:** + Portfolio management duties such as financial record requests and documentation of portfolio company updates in internal databases and trackers + Partner with External R&D and Amgen Technology and Medical Organization to understand evolving trends, emerging themes and potential opportunities for investment **What we expect of you** We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The professional we seek is an individual with these qualifications. **Basic Qualifications:** Doctorate degree **Or** Master’s degree and 2 years of accounting or venture capital experience **Or** Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of accounting or venture capital experience **Or** Associate’s degree and 8 years of accounting or venture capital experience **Or** High school diploma / GED and 10 years of accounting or venture capital experience **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or accounting + Professional experience in the pharmaceutical and/or venture capital sectors + 3 to 5 years of experience in Business Development, Strategy, Consulting, Venture Capital or a related function is preferred + Strong interpersonal and communication skills including verbal, written and active listening abilities + Ability to analyze financial statements, market trends, and investment opportunities + Clear understanding of financial principles, valuation methods, investment strategies, and investment deal structure + Interest in learning + Project management & multi-tasking skills and proficiency in databases utilization, data entry, and MS Office tools + Ability to work effectively in teams and individually **What you can expect from us** As we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being. The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
