The Commercial Training Development Manager manages and leads a team of instructional designers, media authors, and game developers to develop best-in-class learning programs for the marine ship and offshore industry. The manager is responsible for the design and development of learning programs for innovative, game-based, and immersive technologies in addition to traditional modalities such as instructor-led and web-based training.
What You Will Do:
Responsible for the full cycle development of ABS commercial training products, including training program design, development, assessment, and evaluation. Leads client architect sessions to define bespoke training development needs. Holds the team accountable for meeting deadlines. Strategically incorporates multiple facets of learning technologies across modalities, looking for synergies between instructor-led, video, web-based, game-based learning and other technologies to create innovative products. Manages consultants and external vendors to attain objectives and ensure the timely and cost-efficient delivery of multimedia learning assets that meet defined quality standards. Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to design and develop engaging training projects and communications within the project scope. Conducts quality reviews of learning programs and assures final deliverables meet or exceed established design, accuracy, consistency, and quality standards. Responsible for the quality of course assessments, ensuring they meet defined standards. Manages the execution of maintenance updates to content and assessments. Conceptualizes instructional design solutions that best meet defined market needs. Defines and implements quality standards for learning programs. Maintains a keen understanding of training trends and best practices in learning experience and design. Strategically elevates the level of creative output and ongoing development team performance. Fosters a team-based project management approach across the organization to maximize development efficiencies.What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Systems Technology, Instructional Design, Education, or related field; or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience in multimedia development. Three years leading a learning development team. Marine engineering or oil and gas background a plus.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of game-based learning principles and demonstrated experience in the design and development of game-based or immersive learning Ability to apply innovative approaches across training modalities, including instructor-led, web-based, video (including 360), game-based, and immersive (AR/VR) training. Possesses a thorough understanding of building training in multiple modalities. Demonstrated use of Articulate Storyline and RISE, Unreal, Blender, Matterport, and other authoring tools. Ability to solve problems quickly and completely with minimal supervision. Ability to foster a productive team environment. Excellent client service skills with an upbeat attitude. Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Demonstrates flexibility and critical thinking skills when managing scope, implementation, timelines, and project priority changes. Action orientated. Able to follow up on feedback to ensure positive outcomes. Knowledge of creating, designing, and editing graphics and media content with tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Audition, and Premiere. Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System.Reporting Relationships:
Reports to the VP of Commercial Training and has individual contributors and potential managerial direct reports.
