The Manager, Communications will support strategic external communications for AES’ renewables and energy infrastructure portfolio in the West and Mountain West regions of the US, positioning AES as a solution-focused market leader in utility-scale clean energy development. This role will be a member of the AES’ US Businesses’ External Affairs team, supporting external communications, media relations, digital, thought leadership and content creation in alignment with the global brand strategy.

Primary job responsibilities

Support AES’ overall external communications strategy to effectively position the company as a solution-focused and innovative market leader with critical stakeholder audiences, aligning with AES global brand narrativeWork collaboratively with project teams and internal subject matter experts, and conduct independent research to understand technical industry-related information and deliver compelling content that meets the needs of customers and key stakeholder audiencesSupport the creation of a suite of collateral to showcase AES’ distinctive capabilities in the industry to support strategy and development goalsManage press engagement in key, local project markets and track local media relations activities utilizing media monitoring and stakeholder management softwareEmploy digital tools to build platforms to showcase successful projects, and position AES in key marketsDraft posts that increase AES’ social media presence to highlight the US portfolioAssist with thought leadership development to increase recognition and public visibility of AES through industry events, sponsorships and speaking engagementsSome travel may be required

Qualifications

7+ years of proven experience in communications, public affairs, marketing, journalism, stakeholder engagement, or related fieldBachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Political Science, Environmental Policy, or relevant disciplineStrong preference for candidates with experience in the energy sector, specifically renewable energyAbility to cultivate and maintain strong relationships across a matrixed, global organizationOutstanding written, verbal and presentation skillsExperience with managing or assisting in the production of high-quality marketing collaterals and digital contentStrong project management and time management skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive tasksKnowledge of stakeholder management software, media monitoring platforms, social media platforms and digital analyticsAbility to travel as needed

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $115.000 and $143.650/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
