Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $100,500.00 - $119,000.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this role is to work independently under the general direction of the Chief Compliance Officer – Banking and manage a team of Compliance Monitoring Analysts. This role assists the Chief Compliance Officer – Banking with operating a documented, risk-based Compliance Monitoring Program which evaluates and validates compliance control activities of the first line for defense. Leads the Compliance Monitoring team in conducting monitoring, testing, and general review activities for the Bank.

Essential Functions

Lead, mentor and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and manage department workflow with guidance on departmental projects/issues, and provide coaching and development opportunities appropriate to each direct report's individual needs

Oversee daily operations, including the performance of monitoring, testing, and general review activities by business line, product or regulatory requirement, documenting compliance testing findings in report form, and following up on related required actions from compliance monitoring reports

Perform all necessary management functions, including hiring, evaluations, annual increase allocations and disciplinary action as required

Communicate decisions, priorities and relevant information to team members effectively

Support budget management, planning and expenditure

Provide training to staff to facilitate career growth and development. Provide direction to staff on compliance monitoring activities and mentor others to increase compliance and testing competencies.

Facilitate communication and coordinate efforts with the compliance teams and risk management leadership

Coordinate testing plans with internal leadership teams

Develop annually, and adjust as necessary, the compliance monitoring and testing schedule based on risk assessments and team expertise and capacity

Review and approve via sign off each monitoring engagement’s timing, scope, and extent of testing

Review, provide feedback, and sign off on examination workpapers prepared by staff

Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Strong knowledge of banking compliance, including best practices

Ability to handle sensitive issues professionally and discretely

Excellent reading and comprehension skills

Highly organized, ability to work autonomously with little supervision, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to apply discretion and sound judgement to efficiently and effectively solve problems

Ability to drive results and balance management of organizational risk and meeting goals of the business

Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate team members and foster a positive team environment that gives way to collaboration and unified goals

Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the company, clearly expressing ideas and concepts both verbally and in writing

Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook  

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a Business or other related field such as Accounting, Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Master’s degree, Juris Doctorate preferred.

6+ years compliance experience required

3+ years leadership/supervisory experience preferred

Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or CAMS certification preferred

Continuing education in banking compliance preferred

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $100,500 to $119,000 annually.
