We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply. **Job Summary** The Manager, Contracts will oversee and lead all contract activities within a Battelle Business Unit, primarily within Commercial and the US Government direct contracting framework, ensuring adherence to contracting policies and requirements. This role will be responsible for developing and executing contract strategies that align with the Business Unit’s objectives, ensuring compliance with all Battelle contract systems and guidance as well as contract terms and conditions. The Manager will be responsible for engaging cross-functionally with business unit leadership, other internal functions (e.g., Project Controls, Project Setup, Accounts Receivable, Legal, Compliance, etc.), and external clients to drive win-win solutions. This position requires strong leadership in developing and managing a team of contract professionals. **Responsibilities** + Contract Strategy & Business Engagement: + Collaborate closely with business line managers, accounts payable, and other functions to ensure contract efforts are aligned with project timelines and cost targets. + Work directly with capture teams and business lines on creating contract strategies which maximize savings, lower risk and meet requirements. + Establish methods and means to ensure continued engagement on contract-related issues, status and actions are communicated with the business lines, capture teams and cross-functional teams. + Execute contract team strategies and initiatives as directed by the Sr. Director, Contracts and General Counsel. + Team Leadership & Development: + Lead and develop a high-performing team of contract professionals, providing mentorship, training and professional development support. + Set performance objectives for the team, regularly monitor progress and provide feedback and guidance for professional growth. + Provide regular training and guidance as required to ensure the team is compliant with requirements. + Foster a team culture of accountability, continuous improvement and collaboration. + Promote cross-functional collaboration and communication with other functions as well as BU and Capture teams. + Balance workload across the team to ensure all required actions are supported in a timely manner. + Track and report key functional metrics to ensure team’s effectiveness. **Subject Matter Expertise:** + Act as the primary point of contact for Business Unit contract-related issues. + Work independently to resolve day-to-day issues, and appropriately escalate, on a timely basis, critical issues that require leadership awareness and actions. + Develop and maintain strong relationships with client contracting representatives to ensure efficient issue resolution. + Support the assessment of contract and subcontract related risks during all phases of the contract lifecycle. + Negotiate and support team members negotiation of compliant terms and conditions relative to all contract-related agreements (e.g., MOUs, Teaming Agreements, Contract Terms and Conditions,) + Proficient with Costpoint + Expertise in the Commercial or Federal contracting processes and standard and non-standard contracting mechanisms and corporate contracting policies and procedures. **Key Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; nine years of work experience in contracts, procurement/subcontracting or contract compliance; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a relevant area. + One year of management experience or 3 years as a team lead experience. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience in data analysis and tools such as Power BI and working knowledge of ERP workstreams. **Benefits: Live an Extraordinary Life** We care about your well-being, not just on the job.
