As the Data Center Manager (DCM), the employee will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of datacenter operations to include, 24x7 staffing, facility infrastructure testing and preventive maintenance, service delivery, quality assurance, adherence to corporate standards and processes, internal and external audits, oversight of all hardware assets within the datacenter (internal and customer assets), and continuous improvement to operations within the datacenter.  Requires ability to manage multiple projects at once including coordinating work efforts of internal and external resources as needed.  The DCM can provide these functions with minimal direct supervision.

Responsibilities Provides high quality, consistent, efficient and accurate work for internal and external customer service surrounding the Company valuesAdopt and use defined systems, tools, procedures, processes, and standardsManage and complete assigned projects and report progressUpdate documentation in a timely and accurate mannerMaintain staffing plan to meet business needs and objectivesAssist with new hire interviewing and review support capabilities and establish plans to improve staff performanceDeliver employee communications through regularly scheduled group meetings, one on one sessions, and yearly reviewsDefine employee goals and objectivesMaintain staff schedule to meet appropriate shift coverageTask manage resources for complex or high profile installations Oversee and drive projects to on-time completionDevelop positive relationships with all customersProvide leadership in resolving/addressing customer issuesEnforce established policies and proceduresEnsuring audit compliance is upheld throughout the facility, among staff and customersAssisting Sales teams with tours and provisioning for building out customized data center environments for customer base.Establish and enhance operations processes to drive efficiency and lower operational costsPlan and coordinate maintenance activitiesEnsure appropriate levels of spares for all dedicated and managed servers and peripheralsEnsure focus on technical functions in the data center to include but not limited to:Develop solution alternatives to work through customer problemsSolid understanding of network protocols (LAN/WAN)Solid understanding of DNSUnderstanding of firewalls, VPNs, load-balancing solutionsUnderstanding of various host and network security solutionsUnderstanding of Linux and Windows systems administrationSolid understanding of OS installation and configurationSolid understanding of server hardware platforms (Dell, HP, SUN)Ensure focus on facility functions in the data center to include but not limited to:Proactively assess datacenter facility requirementsCoordinate and oversee regular testing and preventive maintenance of critical facilities infrastructureSolid understanding of critical facilities infrastructure (mechanical, electrical, life safety, security, etc.)Understanding of building management systems and controlsUnderstanding of datacenter best practices (hot-aisle / cold-aisle cabinet placement, service space requirements, power distribution, network cabling, etc.)Understanding of physical security and access systemsResponsible for delivering accurate monthly facility capacity metricsEnforce and adhere to all facility standards Qualifications A minimum of 7 - 10 years progressive experience in a technology-based customer support and data center operations environment.A solid understanding of the service provider business.Ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues.Ability to coordinate projects and programs to insure that all elements of work meet the quality standards, defined scope, and costs of the organization. Ability to manage projects/programs from concept development through implementation.Ability to lead and direct the work of others with or without the benefit of a direct reporting relationship.Ability to exercise independent judgment. Must exhibit a wide degree of creativity and latitude.Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Ability to utilize independent judgment and to support senior managers on operational type projects. Ability to work with personnel at all levels within the organization.Ability to work evenings and weekends as required overseeing critical maintenance activities.Ability to commit to be 'on-call' at all times. Previous personnel management in a shift-based environment.Must have excellent direct customer relations experience.Strong interpersonal skills; must work effectively with associates, team player.Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; must communicate effectively and in a professional manner.Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage priorities, and remain professional at all times.Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively. Working knowledge with ASHRAE, NEC and NFPA.Adequate professional experience and knowledge to perform job responsibilitiesAbility to prioritize and organize effectively Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows-based computer applicationsProficiency in Service Now computer applicationAbility to differentiate between colorsAbility to use small hand toolsMust be able to lift objects over one’s headAbility to use a ladder to work in elevated areas

 

Preferred Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

 Working Conditions

It’s important to note the pay range may be narrower than displayed, as various factors are used to determine the offered compensation package including skill set, level of experience, geographic locations, and other relevant factors- i.e. budgetary requirements.


Pay Range $83,000.00 - $110,855.23
