Description
Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Amazon's Economic Development Policy (EDP) team seeks an experienced professional to support Project Kuiper's expansion in Asia and the Middle East. This position is based in Singapore.
The ideal candidate will develop and drive strategies to support Project Kuiper
projects and unlock business opportunities at regional and local levels. They will
engage with economic development officials, investment agencies, and permitting
agencies, collaborating closely with Kuiper's infrastructure, real estate, construction, regulatory, legal, public relations, and other public policy
stakeholders. The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about
technology, and able to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
This position may require access to information, technology, or hardware that is subject to export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or other approvals from the United States government. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain any necessary export licenses or approvals based on their nationality, citizenship, and any other factors considered by the applicable export control regulations.
Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders on new infrastructure locations and site expansion plans.
- Support the site selection process, including due diligence, permitting, and project approvals.
- Develop workforce and public/private partnership opportunities.
- Craft agreements and partnerships to support projects and local communities.
- Manage relationships with economic development organizations and community stakeholders.
- Oversee outside counsel, developers, and other professional service providers.
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years in government, intergovernmental organizations, or private sector.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Business).
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory proposals across multiple regions and countries.
- Experience engaging authorities on infrastructure entitlements and permitting projects.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Experience working cross-functionally in a matrixed organization.
- Experience working internationally, particularly in the Asia Pacific region.
- Fluency in English.
- An ability and desire to travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of fiber and satellite infrastructure, with experience in siting and permitting infrastructure
- Leadership experience in industry associations or coalitions.
- Familiarity with telecommunications, IT, and cloud computing regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate at high corporate and political levels.
- Strong ethical conduct and professional reputation.
- Exceptional research and analytical skills.
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
