Manager, Employee Relations

The primary purpose of this role is to conduct activities across the organization related to policy adherence, investigations, and risk mitigation. The Employee Relations Manager will execute on employee relations processes and practices, provide consultation and guidance to leaders, and support cross-functional projects associated with the Employee Relations discipline. The Employee Relations Manager will help foster a positive and productive work environment that supports the Company’s Mission and Values.

 

Job Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:

Provide expert guidance and support to managers and other stakeholders regarding employee relations matters. Counsel managers and employees in understanding and applying people tools, policies and procedures to maximize employee performance, achieve organizational effectiveness, improve employee engagement, and ensure legal compliance.  Provide Field Managers timely guidance and support on employee relations situations including Reportable Issues, Ethics Point and HR-related employee/manager queries.  Follow defined policies and procedures and ensure employment matters are handled consistently. Monitor and analyze trends in employee relations issues, using data to inform decision making and policy development. Foster continuous improvement and incorporate CI tools, such as root cause analysis, lessons learned, and case studies. Identify opportunities through data insights to predict and mitigate risks, help build organizational capability and enhance the employee experience. Collaborate with key stakeholders to help develop proactive interventions and prevention strategies to address issues and recommend systematic improvements and appropriate innovative solutions. Deliver effective case management of employee relations issues, high risk disciplinary actions, legal issues, policy interpretation and application, and investigations to ensure consistent compliance and risk management practices. Engage appropriate stakeholders, centers of excellence (COE), and Legal as appropriate. Conduct investigations using effective interviewing techniques, utilizing knowledge of the relevant legislation and regulations and organizational policies to determine appropriate resolutions. Document and report findings to appropriate decision makers and recommend appropriate corrective or disciplinary actions.  Consult with partners and stakeholders in the areas of employment law and Human Resources issues, policies, programs, and processes. Influence policy and decision making based upon Employee Relations best practices and observed trends. Assist in the development, implementation and administration of Human Resources programs, policies and procedures in alignment with employment law. Log and track investigations in ServiceNow and EthicsPoint systems, resolving issues in a timely manner. Support with short-term and long-term planning initiatives that support the company’s mission, vision and strategic objectives. Provide support in the areas of organizational excellence, employee relations, and retention.   Design and deliver training programs on HR topics or new initiatives to all levels of management as needed. Complete ad-hoc projects, reporting and tasks working with cross-functional HR teams.

 

Minimum Job Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Human Resources or comparable field. Thorough knowledge of workplace laws and regulations.  Minimum of 3+ year’s employee relations specialist or HR functional experience in progressively responsible roles.  Able to accommodate internal clients located across all U.S. time zones. PHR or SHRM preferred.

 

Travel Percentage:

Approximately10% travel, including occasional overnight stays.

Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem solving abilities, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Proficiency with technology and reporting, with advanced computer skills and high proficiency in MS Office Suite. Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously and capable of working with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Effective communication skills, written, verbal and interpersonal. Proficient time management, organizational skills, and ability to meet established deadlines. Excellent working knowledge of process and policy management, reporting, investigations, and application of federal and state employment laws. Ability to use reason and de-escalation skills to manage difficult or emotional situations. Ability to perform root cause analysis, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. High degree of integrity and professionalism, ability to keep things in confidence and instill trust while advising others. Ability to interpret technical documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, and to write effective communications such as reports and memos in a compelling manner.

Compensation and Benefits: 

Compensation based on position, education and experience. Bi-weekly paid.   $84-94k base salary   This position is also eligible for our Support Central bonus program which is based on annual achievement of company performance.
