**Job Description** **Position Title:** Manager, Energy Markets Settlements **OPEN UNTIL FILLED** **Department/Location:** Energy Markets & DCC/Bismarck, ND **Company:** Basin Electric Power Cooperative **Position Purpose:** Manages and directs the daily, weekly, and monthly settlement process across energy markets including wholesale electricity markets for regional transmission operations (RTO) and bilateral markets as well as natural gas, renewables, and transmission activities. responsible for ensuring compliance with certain regulatory filings and requirements. plays a key role in ensuring that energy market settlements and other energy and transmission settlements are accurate and complete. **Essential Functions** + Responsible to oversee the RTO (e.g. MISO, SPP, and WEIS) market settlements through the use of the RTO portals and shadow and energy trading software systems. + Ensure accurate calculation, reconciliation, and verification of energy market transactions including natural gas, power, renewables, transmission and other activities. + Monitor settlement cycles and ensure deadlines are met, resolving discrepancies and submitting disputes, if necessary. + Participate in MISO and SPP working groups to stay up to date with market protocol changes and associated impacts to the settlements process. + Provide the Controller Division with the energy market information necessary to bill counterparties, process payments to counterparties in addition to providing estimates for energy market transactions needed for month-end financial close activities. + Coordinate with market traders, RTO’s, counterparties and the Controller Division to ensure settlement information is accurate. + Work with IT and other areas to implement energy trading and settlement system upgrades and process improvements. + Leads and mentors a team of business professionals to ensure the team maintains quality work standards and identifies opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies. **Qualifications** **:** + Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a business-related field; and + 10 years of experience in energy market operations, energy accounting, commodity settlements, or related business experience. + Prior experience acting as a lead or previous supervisory experience. + Strong leadership skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Knowledge of settlements protocols for electric market operations and RTO’s. + Experience with energy market settlement shadow settlement systems and platforms. + Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. + Resume required. **Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:** This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of a keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds.
