DAY (United States of America)SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Manages environmental health and safety policies, programs, and practices to ensure that the organization is in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED
1. Manages and implements EHS policies, programs, and practices to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards.
2. Stays current on all changes relating to OSHA and unique industry standards.
3. Ensures that OSHA guidelines are being followed and that the company is adhering to various laws and regulations regarding occupational health and safety.
4. Develops safety audit programs in order to identify unsafe acts and conditions which may exist.
5. Develops and directs training programs in the areas of safety and health.
6. Reviews and analyzes accident and incident reports to determine causes, and reports solutions to events.
7. Assists with the evaluation of risk to the company; and assists with the development of strategies to identify and protect the company through various levels of insurance or self insurance.
8. Assists with developing disaster/recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
9. Ensures that the goals of a safe and healthy work environment are incorporated in an effective and conscientious manner.
10. Ensures facility safety and environmental policies and procedures are aligned with safe work practices and governmental laws and regulations.
11. Ensures hazardous wastes are managed in accordance with local and federal regulations.
12. Ensures air emission facility permits are current.
13. Performs industrial wastewater management by preparing permits, monitoring wastewater treatment compliances and troubleshooting problems related to compliance.
14. Coordinates EHS committees.
15. Conducts accident investigations to assist with liability determination and causation, including resolution of open claims.
16. Performs incident management reviews, medical provider care management and back-to-work programs.
17. Performs supervisory assignments for the department such as interviewing, hiring, performance appraisal, training, employee discipline, termination, and work review/scheduling.
18. Performs a variety of related duties, as required.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field.
• A minimum of six years of experience in EHS programs, with three of those years in a leadership position.
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Good training skills and the ability to train employees on various safety issues.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner while meeting deadlines.
• Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
