Manager, Environmental Officer Professional Development

The Manager, Environmental Officer (EO) Support is responsible for supporting the Carnival Cruise Line Compliance Officer Environmental (COE) and shipboard Environmental Officers (EO’s). The Manager, EO Support, ensures efficient scheduling of EO’s onboard and supports career development of the EO’s including scheduling of CSMART trainings and identification of training needs. The Manager, EO Support is a key position in the success of the company’s EO program and will coordinate with, and direct as necessary, stakeholders i.e. HR in the maintenance of the pool of EO’s to include identification of hiring needs and managing the effective recruitment of new EO’s.

Essential Functions:

Oversees shipboard Environmental Officers, including scheduling and developing/implementing recruitment strategies and managing career progression Maintain adequate pool of Environmental Officers, identify hiring needs, and collaborate with recruiting HR partners in hiring process   Approve CCL Environmental Officers appraisals, maintain communication with Shipboard Captains and identify any need for improvement plans in addition manage the promotion process for CCL Environmental Officers Manage communications with CCL Environmental Officers, using the most effective tool for the subject i.e. meetings, emails, one on one calls Manage End of Term calls for CCL Environmental Officers and identify continual improvement opportunities for individual Environmental Officer career paths   Managing and executing a ship visit program for CCL EO’s focused on ensuring individuals are visited in person at appropriate intervals Overseeing the planning and logistics of Environmental Leadership Development Program

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Maritime Completion of CSMART EO1 or Chief Mates license or 1st Engineer license SharePoint, Viva Engage, Teams, Canva, Powerpoint, Word, Excel and Outlook 5+ year of professional experience; 3 years as a shipboard Environmental Officer        Intimate knowledge of environmental regulations     

Physical Demands:  Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended period of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities

Travel:   25-50% with shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions:  Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

This position is classified as “in-office.”  As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
