**Job Summary**
Responsible for the planning of the AEP distribution system for their assigned region. In coordination with the AEP operating companies and the various departments in the grid solutions and energy delivery organizations, prioritizes and manages the planning and development of reliability, capacity, renewal, modernization, and resiliency projects that achieve AEP’s strategic goals in alignment with each of AEP’s operating companies.

**What You'll Do:**
+ Provide leadership and oversight for all activities and personnel involved in distribution system planning. Collaborate with operating companies and grid solutions and energy delivery teams to develop, review, prioritize, approve, and implement capital improvement plans for the distribution system.
+ Coordinate with stakeholders to create a comprehensive 10-year strategic work plan for the distribution system based on identified needs. Work closely with finance and budgeting leadership to ensure optimal funding allocation for distribution system enhancements across the organization, aligning with corporate strategies.
+ Collaborate with the Transmission Planning and Asset Renewal department to ensure the integration of transmission and distribution solutions across the service area. Actively participate in setting and executing departmental and organizational goals and strategies.
+ Monitor the performance of the distribution system planning team against established goals, taking leadership actions as necessary to meet all objectives. Ensure the prompt and accurate execution of studies and development of solutions for customers seeking to connect to the distribution system.
+ Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of plans and budgets (both capital and O&M) for projects within operating companies, allowing sufficient lead time to satisfy design and construction requirements.
+ Advocate for and support the implementation of new distribution system technologies through technical and financial analysis; establish performance expectations for both the distribution system and new technology deployments.
+ Own and enhance AEP’s distribution system planning standards and guidelines as necessary. Review and monitor proposed capital project costs and scopes of work to ensure optimal capital fund usage and alignment with relevant organizational strategies and standards.
**What We Are Looking For:**
**Education requirements:**
Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or other discipline from an ABET accredited (or equivalent) university or college.
**Work Experience requirement:**
Minimum of eight (8) years related engineering experience is required, with three (3) years of management/supervisory experience preferred.
**Required License(s)/Certification(s): Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred**

+ Demonstrated leadership ability to effectively organize, direct and coordinate the work of other personnel.
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and present ideas clearly both orally and in writing, including making presentations and recommendations to senior management and external audiences.
+ Demonstrated alignment and support of the company’s safety and health, culture, ethics, and customer-focus initiatives and practices. Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset with an ability to flex in a rapid-change environment

$132,562.00-172,331.00 USD
