The Royal Caribbean Group’s Global Security Operations Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Excecutive Protection Manager reporting to the Maritime Security AVP. 

 

This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida. 

 

Position Summary: 

We are looking for an Executive Protection Manager to join a team of security professionals who are responsible for broad range of active and passive mitigation measures. Our ideal candidate will have extensive work experience in law enforcement, discretion in handling confidential and critical information, and the interpersonal skills needed to navigate, grow and optimize efforts in a fast pace, physical environment. This candidate also understands that supporting their people is one of the most critical roles they perform.  The individual should be open and approachable and have a proactive mindset with regards to safeguarding our people.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Develop and implement comprehensive executive protection and risk management strategies for top executives; to include security and logistical plans for domestic and international travel and appearances by senior executives and others.  

Make critical decisions, without management consultation or approval, regarding the expeditious and safe resolution of developing situations, directing others, including non-employees, and interfacing with law enforcement.  

Conduct advance security assessments of venues and travel routes to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities. Travel domestically and internationally with executive(s) as needed.  

Analyze data from database and evaluate for severity and nature of risk to senior executives and others. Develop and implement appropriate security response to address risk.  

Conduct complex advance protective services planning, risk assessments and analysis, and liaise with business units to ensure confidentiality, access control, asset protection, and other security matters are adequately addressed.  

Coordinate security/logistical planning with other senior executive support staff, security personnel of other organizations, event planners, and law enforcement personnel, etc.  

Develop and implement crisis management plans for the senior executives and others.  

Develop and implement training for senior executives and senior executive support.  

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:  

Bachelor’s degree.  

Minimum of 7 years of Executive Protection experience in the private sector, or at a senior level in the public sector.  

Proficient understanding of the range of security threats EC members face, including the drivers for such threats and how they evolve.  

Previous experience of engaging with senior leaders. Excellent verbal and written communicator. Uses tact and diplomacy in all interactions.   

Demonstrated stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship management skills in complex and challenging professional environments.  

Proven ability to apply sound judgment and use discretion when dealing with sensitive information. Ability to make independent judgments with little or no oversight.  

Experience of using assessment tools to identify risks and of implementing strategies to manage risks highlighted in such assessments.  

Position requires up to 50-percent business travel domestically and internationally, at times with little notice. Requires valid passport.   

A valid and active driver’s license.  

On call availability 24/7. Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.   

Supervisory experience is desired.  

 

Preferred Qualifications  

Master’s Degree  

CPP Certified  

Understanding of behavioral threat management  

A pre-existing network of relevant external stakeholders (government, industry, law enforcement agencies etc.) is desirable.  

Prior experience with a federal, state or local law enforcement agency is highly desirable.  

Experience developing and managing security plans for various sized events.  

Ability to work as an individual and part of a complex team.  

Investigative experience is highly desirable.  

Broad-based security experience is a plus.  

International travel/work experience and foreign language skills are desirable.  

Experience with residential security on a functional level, including formal assessments and deploying physical and operational security measures implementation  

Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant security training programs are highly desirable  

 

Work Environment 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, possibly travel domestic and international, and work in shipboard functions. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations. 

 

Physical Demands  

The Physical Demands described here are representative of those requirements employees must meet to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.  While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, and stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information.  The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10-15 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to walk to the dock, ascend and descend the vessel. This position may regularly travel domestically or internationally. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
