Job Description

Purpose of the role:

Brookfield is looking for a motivated individual with financial reporting experience to work as part of the asset management function in BPG Japan. This position is not only responsible for all aspects of financing and reporting for all Brookfield’s Real Estate Investment in Japan, but also involved in key stakeholders relationship management.

Responsible for:

Financial

Key business partner to Investment and Portfolio Management teams in Japan and the Key Japanese Finance contact for the Global Real Estate teams and responsible for all matters related to finance and accounting for BPG investments in Japan

Initial responsibilities include managing, reviewing, and participating in the reporting and operations of different investments and structures, including:

Working with third parties to consolidate investment books and records and prepare financial statements in accordance with different accounting standards (IFRS, JGAAP)

Monitor and report on the liquidity requirements of investments

Manage funds flow and document execution during investment periods

Co-ordinate business plans and quarterly updates on progress against plan for investments with insightful commentaries

Manage the external audit and tax reporting processes

Compile and analyse financial data and operating metrics for quarterly presentations submitted to different stakeholders.

Build relationships with key contacts, including sector and regional finance leads, and the following teams: Brookfield Property Group (BPG) reporting; corporate finance; transactions and accounting policies; tax; legal; treasury; internal and external audit teams if required

Manage relationships and reporting to capital providers including investors and lenders

Partner closely with service providers and outsource vendors

Assist and coordinate with other departments to fulfill fund operations, reporting requirements and responding to inquiries from investors

Prepare and oversee investor reporting

Perform ad hoc tasks such as responding to requests for information or assisting with underwrites

Lender communication on finance related matters

Qualifications/ Experience/Skills

8-10 years of experience with a mix of public/private accounting

Accounting experience required, PE Real Estate experience strongly preferred

CPA preferred

Ability to design financial processes and controls

Hands on and high standards for accuracy and quality; Thorough and meticulous with extreme focus on details

A strong leader and team player with ability to work and communicate effectively with senior executives

Can work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines

Ability to multitask with good time management skills to meet multiple reporting deadlines

Strategic thinker that can think outside the box, focused on efficiency and improving existing processes

Strong understanding of IFRS and Japan GAAP principles and financial reporting technical skills

Strong understanding of Fair Value reporting

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Team oriented with good coaching skills

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Certified Public Accountant certification strongly preferred
