Department Details

• Strategic Assessment:
o Conduct comprehensive assessments of current finance processes, systems, and data to identify areas for improvement and transformation opportunities.
o Develop a comprehensive finance transformation roadmap aligned with business objectives, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and timelines.
• Project Management:
o Lead cross-functional teams across finance and other departments to design, implement, and manage complex finance transformation projects.
o Oversee project planning, resource allocation, steering committee management, risk mitigation, and communication to ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget.
• Process Improvement:
o Identify and implement process automation opportunities using technology solutions to streamline transactional activities and reduce manual effort.
o Design and document standardized finance processes to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
• Technology Implementation:
o Collaborate with IT teams to evaluate and select new finance systems or upgrades to existing systems, including ERP, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting tools.
o Lead the implementation and integration of new technology solutions, ensuring proper training and user adoption.
• Data Analytics and Insights:
o Develop data-driven insights by leveraging advanced analytics tools to provide valuable business intelligence to key stakeholders.
o Create customized dashboards and reports to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Change Management:
o Develop and execute comprehensive change management strategies to effectively communicate transformation initiatives and manage stakeholder expectations.
o Provide training and support to finance teams to ensure smooth transition to new processes and systems.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
o Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure alignment with business goals and priorities.
o Proactively communicate transformation progress and updates to senior leadership.

Skills and Qualifications Desired
• Proven experience in leading large-scale finance transformation projects, including process improvement, system implementation, and data analytics
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
• Expertise in data analysis and visualization tools
• Proven project management skills with the ability to manage complex initiatives and deliver results on time
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders
• Change management expertise to drive successful adoption of new processes and systems within the finance team.

Summary

Manages finance activities for a broad range of service lines and facilities within the Sanford Health enterprise. Facilitates organization-wide financial planning, budgeting, and process support for the full spectrum of services offered throughout Sanford Health.

Job Description

Produces thorough, accurate and timely budget, expense management, and variance reports for the healthcare organization. Provides effective financial forecasting, planning and control mechanisms for the healthcare organization. Involved in candidate selection and onboarding, including scheduling training and integration into team. Evaluates employee performance and supports continuous professional development for employees. Provides leadership and support for financial services initiatives and projects; has ownership of project outcomes and ensures deadlines are met while providing guidance and support to staff on individual contributions to projects.

The Manager is a professional role and must demonstrate leadership abilities, including: the ability to make work assignments and adjust as needed, manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines, coaching employees and taking corrective action when needed, supporting employee development, and taking the initiative in own professional development. Advanced understanding of accounting principles and standards is required. Able to demonstrate use of knowledge in making forecasts based on statistical analysis and provide accurate, complex analysis of financial data. Ability to interpret complex financial and accounting data. Must be self directed, autonomous and yet be able to work in an interdependent role. Must have excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills, and the ability to work with others across the organization at all levels. Work must be well documented. Must be able to communicate with all levels of management and employees, both orally and in writing.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in accounting, finance, business, healthcare administration, or related field; master's degree desired, but not required. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, leadership may potentially consider minimum six years equivalent work experience.

Minimum of five years' experience in financial analysis or related accounting fields. Healthcare experience would be helpful.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or other professional certification is preferred, but not required.
