The Manager, Finance and Tax, Scientific Research and Experimental Development is responsible for determining and categorizing all expenditures qualifying for the SR&ED and Grants tax credits. This role includes researching tax law and working with clients' accountants on SR&ED related corporate tax return issues as well as Government Grants and Incentives.Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results

Create a positive team member experience.Contribute to the success of the engagement team by providing assistance in complex tax and financial issues to ensure the claim's integrity and eligibility.Interact with Revenue Canada to obtain interpretations on tax matters and to follow up on the status of the firm’s client submissions.Client:
Attend client meetings and provide clients with professional and timely services and advice.Apply relevant and practical knowledge to discuss complex tax issues with clients.Assist and guide clients during financial audits with the CRA.Value:
Demonstrate deep understanding of the tax principles and ability to produce effective solutions related to the SR&ED and Grants program.Prepare all the SR&ED tax forms for client submissions.Stay current with the latest developments and changes in the SR&ED and Grants legislature.Contact CRA for refund confirmation, as necessary;Validate notice of assessments or reassessments provided by clientsDemonstrate an ability to research and understand the requirements of Grants and assist in the preparation of Grant applications.Education and Experience:
Canadian Professional Accounting Designation.University degree in the field of business, finance, accounting or economics.Strong background in taxation and costing.Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills.Outstanding oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to articulately discuss and convey financial and taxation matters pertaining to a variety of industries.Experience in preparing corporate income tax returns. Preparation of SR&ED tax credit claims or working for the CRA auditing SR&ED claims is preferred but not mandatory.High degree of professionalism and ability to work comfortably and effectively with external client personnel at all levels of management.Excellent time management skills as well as the ability to work independently and to simultaneously handle multiple client projects.Interact with clients to gather and prepare all post Grant approval complianceInterest in developing expert knowledge of taxation issues and financial aspect of the SR&ED tax incentive program and Grants program, as well as general interest in technology and innovation.Prior consulting experience considered an asset.Ability to travel to client locations.Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate skills in Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license required.
