Job Description

Brookfield Property Group, (BPG) is one of Brookfield’s primary investment platforms, made up of sector-specific operating platforms in the office, retail, multi-family, industrial and hotel asset classes. With approximately $271 billion of property assets under management, BPG is one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated owners, operators and investors in real estate.

BPG is looking for a motivated individual with fund accounting experience to work on the Brookfield Real Estate Credit Finance and Operations team.

Key Accountabilities:

Key responsibilities include managing, reviewing, and participating in the entire fund operations and reporting process such as:

Prepare and review Fund quarterly reporting in accordance with US GAAP – Investment Company Accounting and IFRS for Brookfield internal reporting.

Manage the external audit and tax reporting processes with big 4 firms

Oversee and manage third-party fund administrator

Train, mentor and motivate an accountant

Work with tax, deal legal and investment team to ensure proper structuring of deals and related tracking and reporting internally and to partners

Compile, analyze and prepare financial data and operating metrics for quarterly review presentations submitted to senior management and investors

Assist FP&A on annual business plan information which includes actual, forecasted and projected financials, strategic initiatives and industry cycle overview

Prepare and/or review investor reporting such as but not limited to audit confirmations, ILPA reporting, reporting per investor side letters, investor capital calls and distributions, investor commitments and capital accounts

Prepare and/or review management fee and waterfall calculations

Work with asset management and FP&A on cash management and projections

Monitor liquidity and assess capital needs for the business

Other fund operations, including any ad hoc projects, process improvements, and collaboration with other FinOps groups to standardize investor reporting processes

Candidate Profile:

This position offers excellent opportunities in a dynamic environment. To qualify, candidates must have:

At least 5-7 years of experience with public and/or private accounting

A mix of open and closed end fund accounting experience preferred

Ability to design financial processes and controls

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Team oriented with good coaching skills

Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

Extremely strong analytical, problem-solving skills and business acumen

Ability to multitask with good time management skills to meet multiple reporting deadlines

Good process management skills

Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
